Didn't think that I would there for a while. Dad brined the turkey and then wanted to cook it in his new toy, an infra red fryless cooker (between Nov being cold and damp here, not to mention the cost of cooking oil, we're no longer frying turkeys). However somehow he and mom miscommunicated or something. Either way the rest of the dinner wasn't done on time which was cause for much yelling.

But the turkey was just fine, very good in fact, and I have to admit, I was glad it wasn't the whole family here. I have lost my taste (not that I had much of one) for big family gatherings ESPECIALLY with relatives who show up maybe bringing one side dish and expecting to cart home enough food for days and brought the containers to do just that.

Things I'm thankful for: My flist, my betas, what little health I have and my writer's imagination. (and there's another thank you to the betas over in [livejournal.com profile] jana_denardo

I need more time to write and I think mom wants to head to mall like at midnight.
Snippet of the day (where in Sverre is suddenly full of hobbies and hopes for the futher I knew nothing about prior to)

"Hope we weren't too late for lunch. We had to accompany Charis while she placed a prearranged call to her sister that took longer than expected as we had a time of it trying to appease Savaria Mercy. She apparently disliked soldiers."

"Somehow that doesn't surprise me. Drop your things here. We can take it to your room later," Mrs. Drake said. Sverre wasn't paying attention to the sounds of bags hitting the floor. He was fascinated by the glass fronted book case next to the fire place. He loved to read but books were another luxury he was rarely exposed to. Occasionally a trading party would have one or two tucked away and more often than not it wasn't something he really enjoyed reading.

MMM, pizza, no family drama, The X-Files, some writing, a trio of evil little dogs. It was a good day.

Good luck at the malls later tonight!

Chat did die, about ten minutes after you came on. I had no problem carrying on conversations with others, so I'm guessing it was somewhere on your end? I figured you got dragged away.

Weird. It showed you unavailable from this end.

Yay! Some of my best holidays I had were when I was alone in San Francisco--no drama, just peace and quiet.

No drama after dealing with all the people at the store the other night seemed like the best way to go.

I know what you mean; even on nights when I'm not working, I'm more awake at midnight than in the morning.

My sister cooks way too much food for two people and always sends me home with more than I can eat. Thank goodness we've decided to have low-key Xmas with pizza and movies.

I have to say it, Thanksgiving is a lot less stressful since most of my relatives have died.

Yay for good turkey and somewhat less stress!

Ate dinner with mom, sister and brother-in-law at sister's house. We actually all get along so it was pretty nice dinner.

Brother, his girlfriend and two of his kids stopped by for dessert.

Was home by 6 p.m.

Wasn't planning on doing any Black Friday stuff, but Walmart had Arkham City for $28, so I ventured out at 7:30 this morning and got it with no problem and little waiting.

Listening to some of the others in the electronics department who showed up at midnight, there were some fights in the store. Not over xBox's or big screen TVs... no, the fights were over sheets.

Thanksgiving night I was home alone as my parents were at Wal-Mart and my sis was hanging out with her friend. Still peaceful though as I get to eat turkey and stuffing, watched anime, and thinking over one of my stories, haha. Nice to hear your Thanksgiving was fine overall.
