Since I didn't get to do this last year (since that holiday sucked rocks so hard) I'm going to share a few of my favorites by favorite performers

Very nice! I really like the Loreena McKennit - interesting stuff, I've never heard her before.

We saw Jethro Tull on their last tour through here, and they did the Solstice Bells song that night, since it was close to Christmas.

Thanks for sharing!

Am jealous that you saw Tull perform Solstice Bells, as it is my favorite holiday song.

There are several of my favorite old "back in the day" bands that I had really regretted not having seen, and Tull was one of them, so it was great to have a chance to finally see them, and in a relatively small venue - and they did not disappoint, it was wonderful. It was fortunate that we caught them right before Martin Barre became ill and had to leave the tour, because he is an awesome guitarist, and so much a part of the group. Anderson was his usual weird, gregarious, elfin self.

I think they were hitting the end of their tour when we saw them as no one was very happy that evening. D:

If you saw the same tour I did (their 2007-08 tour) they were having problems towards the end of the tour - sound problems, and Barre's health problems, and probably just getting on each other's nerves. The website with the concert archives said at a concert two dates after the one I saw, they had a sign posted saying "no whistling or shouting during the performance will be tolerated." Not exactly the same rollicking, devil-may-care mood they used to be known for. *lol*

Nope, it was in '88 or '89; I remember Anderson came out and told us if we didn't all "bloody shut up", the band wasn't coming back on the stage. It was near Christmas, IIRC, though whether it was before or after is a good question.

*lol* So apparently that is a long-running pet peeve of Mr. Anderson's? Heh, he's kind of in the wrong side of the music business, then. Perhaps he should have been a classical flautist instead -- those audiences tend to be less prone to shouting and whistling. But considerably less responsive, and his gyrations and one-legged stance might not be so well-received.... *grins*

(Maybe the dude's just another egotistical asshole artist... )

I would say so. I felt bad for the opening band, and always wondered how they turned out. Their name was "It Bites", which they said, "means something absolutely different in England".
