And then maybe I can rest. Today was actually pretty easy, though I suspect my parents were fighting before I got up since both were in a foul mood (well not unexpected thing since he can't go 10 minutes without being insufferable or insulting)
Spent the morning at my aunt and uncle's (they were suppose to be up here last night but as per usual they faked an illness forcing us to go to them)
Spent the afternoon at granny's and for once she was happy to see us (surely she'll bitch about it next time). Finally learned that granny met grandpa at Shady Lane bar. I had NO idea it was that old of a place. He would never dance so she went up to him with a 'hi handsome' and dragged him off to dance. I started getting a little queasy there but thought I was hungry.
Came home, had chicken for dinner. Couldn't eat it. The mere smell nauseated me. Gave it to Dad. I could eat other things on the plate but not the chicken. Im exhausted too. So very exhausted.
The run down of christmas goodies can wait til I'm more coherent.
I DO want to say this. of ALL the things the Catholic Church needed to change, WHY change the responses in the ritual? Everyone knows them by heart. And to change them into clunky groveling language and to make them LONGER has only served to irritate the parishioners. At one point, our priest finally decided 'screw this' and went back to the mass responses we all know. He also said that he hadn't gotten his Christmas wish yet. With Hines Ward retiring, Father is waiting for his call to play for the Steelers (it's even funnier if you know he's an old dude)
But here's a picture. My brother had a theme going. he gave us all mugs...

Date: 2011-12-26 04:16 am (UTC)Yeah, I don't see any reason to change the responses to the prayers. Change what NEEDS to be changed, Scary Pope Man (er, Benedict).

Date: 2011-12-26 02:06 pm (UTC)You know, maybe the priest should play for the Steelers. Tebow prays during the game and such, and look how good he's doing.
(Sorry. Couldn't resist.)

Date: 2011-12-26 03:19 pm (UTC)William and I went with his mother to Midnight Mass as her friend didn't end up wanting to go, too tired.
I said to Marcia, who is so very amused that I was at Sacred Heart K-3 and was blessed... "THIS is NOT like the last time I was at the Newman Center... I went to Catholic Mass all the time. It was VERY comforting."
And it was. Sacred Heart was amazing. I even introduced myself to the Priest before the mass and explained, in very short for me, "I'm not Catholic, so I will not take Communion as I know it IS sacred. I got blessed at First Communion with the rest of my class."
One of my favorite people at college, and sometimes, "And bless the little Protestant in the congregation."
Sometimes people would wonder WHY I was kneeling or sitting just quietly contemplating. OUT of respect. That's what I did at Mass as a kid.
DO you get annoyed when VERY able bodied HS age boys are at Mass out of OBLIGATION and rest their butts on the pew when they are kneeling... and text at Mass?
I know I am!
I was NOT ABOUT to have William's awesome Mother sitting at the only Christmas Mass she was going to. It's JUST NOT RIGHT! So we went, even though I was EXHAUSTED. (And then ended up so WIRED I was up nearly 48 hours, upon looking at it, no, not Manic, but my circadian rythyms are f'd!)
I like your mug and your picture. :)
I'm babysitting for the not so well behaved niece and her ADORABLE sister. And for a "hard candy" Christmas, my gifts of love and sincerity and for the women, "I am opening an Etsy. I would LOVE to talk with you and make you something AMAZING. *That I can take pictures of for the stock model of custom work. ;)
Marcia Jr. offered to pay me, "What do you charge?" I said, "I don't!" BUT she knows I am out of a job and hell, she has someone who ADORES children and has the degree to make it "Mary Poppins". ;) So I said, "Whatever you feel is right."
For the side of the family that has the drama queen Mom, who I LIKE, but wow... I went to school with her husband, he's '93 like Me. :) Wm is '92. :)
AND ramble... I thanked my first serious bf for loving me as well as he did and said, "I was SCARED of YOU. You were TOO wonderful. I was NOT ready to be loved that well. I am now and I am."
I got all xmas lovey... don't spend the day with adorable babies who are 18 months and starting complete sentences.

Date: 2011-12-26 04:43 pm (UTC)honestly the putting the butt on the pew bothers me not at all.
I'm far more annoyed by parents who refuse to use the cry room and let their kids interrupt the sermon

Date: 2011-12-27 03:52 am (UTC)I hope the nausea clears up. You don't need to get sick for the holidays.
Yes, that was the right tarot deck you got me, by the way. It's beautiful. I did my best to read the book that came with the cards, but conked out after the Major Arcana due to too much Christmas dinner and too much wine and coquito (Puerto Rican eggnog from Hell, if you're not familiar with it). I'm going to tackle the Minor Arcana tonight. The coquito gave me heartburn, so at least I'll be sober this time.

Date: 2011-12-27 04:37 am (UTC)thanks. it was mostly just my gastric paresis, my usual nausea
oh yes, my Puerto Rican friends in med school taught me that one. I have all the fixings back home and was planning on it.
glad you liked the tarot deck
