These Dreams

I had the weirdest dream. It was more complicated than I can remember naturally but I was starting up a business with friends, all of whom are nebulous in my memory except for enemytosleep. I know we had the business in one of my typical labyrinthine buildings.

I led a group of clients?backers?new partners? Up to it and it was snowing. I was excited because it hadn’t snowed all winter but it was snowing in North Carolina on my cousins (actually that DID happen last night). My friends were working as the new people looked around. I can’t tell you what our business was and I got the idea it was several businesses and we lived upstairs.

enemytosleep cruised on by with a ‘hey, I have to jet, transfer these into those boxes,’ then whooshed out the door. These turned out to be cremains (pet? Human? Who the hell knows) and I was supposed to transfer it from the cardboard box they came in to Chinese take out boxes….

Grumbling, I start doing it but I notice something quickly, whoever sent the cremains never thought they would be repackaged in ‘prettier’ containers because there was nothing in it but sawdust. I know sawdust and this time it wasn’t hard. For one there were no bone bits or teeth and secondly, there were hunks of particle board and wood in it. Then it comes the endless box of cremains because I keep pouring and pouring and there’s just more and more. It’s flowing out of the take out box everywhere.

enemytosleep comes back and I tell her a) to finish her own work b) that she needed to call the police because someone is most likely illegally disposing of dead bodies and commiting fraud. She doesn’t want to do either thing and demanded to know how I knew they weren’t real cremains. I push her over to the work bench and make her work. I went back to doing whatever it was I was supposed to be doing. I woke up in the middle of enemy whining she didn’t want to touch the stuff.

All my business ventures are solid, and I resent the fact that you'd question my suppliers in the cremains market! People want their cremains and they want them cheap; if occasionally they have to add some volume with filler, it's all in the interest of keeping the product affordable for buyers (WTF were we doing selling people cremains for anyway? Why not just the boxes?.

I think you were actually in charge of cremating the individuals (maybe we ran a pet cemetary...) b ut whatever you were doing, you were doing it WRONG

Nothing I ever do is wrong - you're simply perceiving it incorrectly. And I am amused that I was the one cremating seeing how you and seatbeltdrivein are both far more qualified for that sort of thing. XD
