too hot for a cook out
May. 28th, 2012 10:05 pmat least ways without a pool. Even the kids weren't playing. They were collapsed on the porches. I did the hamburger and hot dog thing but i made my own "hamburgers" out of quinoa and feta cheese. I'll share the recipe maybe tomorrow. It was good but they fell apart.
I spent most of the day with realtor. OMG that old man could TALK. He's the granddad to one of my friends from my nano writers group (though he wants to know why I'm not living in Athens where the cool people are. Life sucks my friend and I'm too poor). He was pretty honest about a lot of the houses being in rough shape. He must have printed out a dozen of houses to look at. I talked them over with mom and aunt (who'll both be living with me if dad and his brother don't shape the hell up).
Sadly the red door house has a realtor in Columbus. In fact my realtor's group had it (he said it's pretty rough inside) couldn't sell it so they did the sensible thing and give it to a realtor 100 miles away. Um. whatever. I am going to be sure to see the neighboring one. He also told me it was very difficult to get financing for double wides including the nicer ones. Okay then, good to know.
honestly this is tempting yeah it's a shack but it's a shack with a path to the lake and that makes up for a lot.
I wish there were more homes outside of town. Well, like I said, I'm probably not going to buy anything. I think my best bet is to hit the job ads and get the fuck out of OH. It's suffering from a nearly 15% drop off in graduating students, not because of less kids being born but because the high school drop out rate is starting to mirror WV at 25%. (just saw a Taco Bell commerical about their stay in school initiative about a girl living homeless in an alley with her text books wrapped in plastic graduating with a 3.9 gpa and here we can't get them to stay in school so badly that OH is considering dropping graduation age to 16).
The funny thing is i mentioned house hunting sucks on twitter and i'm now being followed by like 6 real estate vultures. Time to get porny.
sorry, just in a bad mood. I woke up every 2 hours last night so now i'm depressed and tired

Date: 2012-05-29 03:19 am (UTC)No, you don't want to move to Savannah. Beryl is busy washing it away right now. That's one thing Ohio has going for it, at least--not much threat of hurricanes. Not that that makes up for the abysmal graduation rate, but it's something.

...because, you know, there might conceivably be something down there they can use.
