Even though I didn't. I ended up taking the amazon weekly special and bought all of Robotech for 35$. Yes it's not really a 'real' anime (it's piecemealed from 3 anime) but it had a big impact on the SF and cartoon fans in 1985. Probably only a few of us knew then what it really was and it really sparked an interest in anime and manga here in the States. So yes, for nostalgia's sake I bought it.

I also bought some plants at Bedner's (and will probably buy more later when I return), black petunias, mortage lifter and belgium giant heirloom tomatoes and a moonflower.

I worked some on my lectures.

Then we were at my cousins's all night. She's my dad's cousin and his age but I really like hanging out with her (while not a geek, she's otherwise a lot like me).

Also check this out my flash fic won an award. click here to see story and more

Spooky!!

I wiki'd Cassadaga and went on to "Devil's Chair"... that led to an article on "chair monuments". Turns out there is a child sized one in a very awesome cemetary here in Syracuse.

I will have to go investigate.

Cassadaga isn't a scary place, believe me. *laugh* The scariest thing that happened in the ten years I lived there was when I had the neighbors who were obviously abusing each other.

That said, it's full of ghosts.

I actually like ghosts, though having a bloody repeater who was THAT strong would be not that fun.

I'd rather have ghost neighbors than the abusive flesh neighbors.

ELD and I would both agree to ghosts over abusive flesh neighbors

yeah I didn't particularly want that ghost to be a repeater. While fictionalized, this story pretty much happened for real.

Also, I spent regular time in the Cassadaga/Lake Helen cemetery, and I don't remember ever seeing a stone chair.

There were other stories about that area though, that my friend (who'd lived in Lake Helen all her life) told me, about the flowers that grew in and around the cemetery, and were purple during the day and glowed white at night.

The cemetery had its own ghosts; there was a walled off section with a little boy's grave that attracted one of my dogs, who barked and wagged his tail and obviously wanted to play with the little boy. There was also a cranky old man there who just wanted someone to notice him, and would calm down if you paid your respects. It looked like he'd died young-ish (not for his time period but for ours), and while his wife's name was listed on the double tombstone, she obviously wasn't buried there, which led CoM and I to believe he was upset at being there alone.

My friend's mom was buried there, in the newer part of the cemetery, and that trip was the only time I didn't feel any ghosts within the cemetery boundaries.

This is all so cool.

Sounds like your friend's Mom told them all to "bugger off" or acted as a ward so they all stayed away.

That or your friend is a "cooler". I have friends who seem to attract ghosts into manifesting and those who SHUT THEM DOWN.

Nah, they'd have been okay with the ghosts if they'd shown for the funeral. I think more likely we weren't in an area that they normally manifested in, since they were all centered around the older part of the cemetery.

thanks.

As ELD said, while we heard of the chair, we never saw it (that said I've seen empty mourning chairs in many cemeteries). That child sized one you share is really cool.

Cassadaga was like a mix of rednecks and spiritualist hippies

CONGRATULATIONS!!!! I'm glad you used that story idea. :D

Yay for Robotech! You'll get to watch Yellow Belmont (another character you might've used for your 'androgynous/LGBT in Anime' review last week, if we'd just thought of her).

thank you and thank you for the idea

oh geez. how could I forget her. I'd use her now if I was doing the romance & manga blog hop but too much of it is over this week and I didn't have time

You're very welcome. On both counts.

I don't know! Wasn't she your favorite character?

OH, YAY for Robotech! I've been eying that complete collection for ages -- if I'd seen it for $35 I'd snatch it up (I stuck it on my Netflix queue but haven't had the chance to watch it all).

Not only that, right there on the "people who bought this also bought" section was the Macross movie ("Do You Remember Love?"), which I've been looking for in English for AGES -- not only in English, but on DVD. Go figure. I got that, too.
