Made it back to the States but almost didn't. However, before I say anything, I really wanted to say thank you to [livejournal.com profile] bob_fish and Dr. H. They are wonderful hostesses and made my time in London special. Thank you ladies, very much. I'm absolutely grateful that you opened your home to me. I'd say I'd do the same but I can't imagine why you'd want to come to the ass-end of Ohio. Oh, wait, maybe Columbus. Who knows maybe there'll be a cool conference in film studies or something? Or Ohio University in Athens (the one cool place in my area) I could bring you down to see the Mothman and do some redneck watching.

Oddly enough I couldn't fall asleep until almost 2 AM in spite of a very full day then I woke up at 438 like I've done every night I was at their house (who knows) but this time I could not go back to sleep. I backed up, showered up and was then confronted by two lovely kitties who meowed imperiously at me. I thought they were being friendly but no, they had no food. I see where I rank. Fill our bowls.

Unfortunately the tube was a tad slow and [livejournal.com profile] bob_fish learned quickly that there are a few things that panic me, being late = full-blown anxiety attack. She graciously offered to drag both my heavy-assed bags to the counter while my asthmatic ass waddled behind as fast as blubber can go. Then it was too late to check in. Cue brain shut down and inability to breathe. [livejournal.com profile] bob_fish tells me to not panic. At least SHE wasn't panicking. We're lucky I wasn't curled into a sobbing ass-ball at this point (not my shining hour, let me tell you). Thanks to her, we begged and pleaded my way on and frankly, I would love to go back and kick them all because that plane was a) LATE b) half full. There shouldn't have been a hassle. At least they swept me thru security and I didn't get time to exchange my coinage.

The plane, as I said, was half-full. I had two seats to myself. I cranked up the cold air, ate the pesto veggie lasagna they gave me as lunch (and the cheese calzone later that flight), caught some sleep, caught up on reading and writing and landed in Detroit which made us go through customs, get our luggage, walk it 20 feet, go through customs again and rebook the luggage then go thru security and the assholes had only TWO security lines and there were 5 incoming planes at that time. However, the x-ray dude saw I was wearing my Star Fleet blues shirt and spread his fingers and told me to live long and prosper and that made my day (though I was more emotional McCoy than Spock today). Mom and Dad met me in Pittsburgh. It is so hot and humid but it's so dark here, so quiet. London had light and city sounds even in the night. Oh, the quiet here is deceptive because once you settle in for the night then you hear the sounds, night animals, my neighbor's idiot donkey, a fox…

I'll be posting each day I was in the UK as a once a day travelogue (as if I had been doing it while there) complete with pictures. You've been warned. Also, please let me know if there's a post/story/art you really want me to see here. Link me up. I had a great time and it's good to be home.

and of course I'm up at a ridiculous hour because my body thinks it's noon.

Ummmm...I posted a story in [livejournal.com profile] fma_fic_contest?

I've been soaking up the A.C. at Mom's and watching over poor little Buddy, chained outside during all of this.

oh geez (though that might be impetus to call animal rescue)

I've thought about that, believe me. Long and hard. But he has a swimming pool next to him to drink from (should he want to), and I'm not sure animal control would consider him at risk because of that.

Also, I'm afraid of what the wife might do in retaliation on Buddy, if she was embarrassed or something.

YAY! Welcome back! And Woot! For [livejournal.com profile] bob_fish making sure you got onto your flight.

Even in England, you are only the food giver. :D

I'm not sure how the weather was over there but we've been dealing with a week of high temps which suck so much. Supposed to hit triple digits this weekend. Blech. And it hasn't been cooling off very well. Past few nights, it's still been in the 80s by 10pm.

Welcome back! Also looking forward to your travelogue!

I do have Chapter Six of my Big Bang (http://bay115.livejournal.com/83273.html), but that was posted way before you left your trip. XD Read it when you get the chance (next chapter is not coming until mid August anyways as Beta B said she'll be busy until that time haha). Also want to let you know my [livejournal.com profile] fma_ladyfest fic I'm done but need to look over a bit first, so I'll send it to you sometime during the weekend.

I can hardly wait to read your posts. :)

YAY! Welcome home!

That's like the TSA guy who looked at my Jayne Cobb "You're Damaging My Calm" t-shirt and said, "That was the greatest show ever on television." :)

I hope there'll be pictures, when you're all settled back home! *

*Duh, I just read your last paragraph. Teach me to comment before reading the whole post. :D

The kitties are fun like that. I have had many experiences like that when getting up in the night. I only have to wake up and open my laptop and they're on the bed bouncing around and begging for food.

Also! Mine and Dr H's top tip for beating jetlag is melatonin. You can get it over the counter in the US (or you could). It works great for us and transformed Helen's recovery time after working nights for a week.
