and the dust from the drought, I think my poor sinuses were compromised.I had a fever most of the day (beginning to feel better) and my head hurt. Just what I need sinusitis. Maybe it'll get over itself in a day.

I still managed to get myself a universal remote today because the one to my recorder died and if I wanted to watch commericials I'd just watch it when it's on in the first damn place.

I managed to get chapter fourteen of my lecture done. Go me. I need to finish typing it in (10 pages to go).

I wish I could finish my stupid holiday story. Gah,I'M SO TIRED OF WRITING SEX. There I said it. So why do I keep doing it? Because so far, I've sold more than half my stories, something I haven't been able to do with the non-sex stories. Make of that what you will.

Starting to think about Nano... anyone planning on it this year?

I'm starting to think about November but I need to find some Norse mythology stories. I checked out Project Gutenburg but they didn't have anything unless my Google-fu is weak.

Which did you start writing first, the gen or sex stories? And which do you prefer to write?

gen, definitely gen. I've been writing since I was 10 (Star Wars, Star Trek fan fic). I also definitely prefer to write gen. Even in my erotica, it always feels like uh-oh, gotta shove in more sex and slow the story line down for it.

One of my favorite Saiyuki fanfiction writers (maybe the most gifted one I know) and I were talking about writing sex in fanfiction one time, and I was whinging about how I never felt comfortable with my sex scenes, was never confident with them. She gave me good advice, and as I look at both my own fics and other people's, I've seen it to be true. She basically said that the sex has to come naturally as an intrinsic organic part of the flow of the plot, or it will ring false, it just won't read well - it will feel "shoved in" (no pun intended.) If you are not feeling right about writing it at any point in a story - or in your life in general - don't! Is it worth the extra money to put something out there with your name on it that you don't feel good about, or is it better to maybe make a little less money but feel better about what you are writing? You may be inhibiting your writing, feeling like you HAVE to put the sex in - whereas if you just WROTE and didn't worry about it, you might find the sex scenes that evolved naturally would be far more spectacular, even if there were less of them, because your heart was really in it.

You write so much more than I do and so much better than I do, and you've published so much, where I've published zip-diddly-nada. So I freely admit, I have absolutely no room at all to be giving you advice on writing, if the truth be told. But really, you write so beautifully, and I'd hate to see anything ever inhibit you or take any of the pleasure out of writing for you. If worrying about getting enough sex scenes in there to satisfy the prurient interests of some of your readers is bogging you down, then screw 'em! You should write what works best for you, and if you do, the quality (and possibly the quantity as well) of your writing can only benefit from it in the long run. That's my opinion. *shrugs* (but what the hell do I know? ^__~ )

In most cases I do that. In fact this is the first thing I've tried to sell in nearly a year which is well bad, just bad.

I don't mind writing them per se, they're not bogging me down but I would rather concentrate on the story over the sex and what that means there are some publishers I'll probably never work with because they insist on more sex and earlier in the story and unless my characters are already lovers, I usually find that not my style
