Holy hell...I'm rarely effected by narcotics. I usually won't even fill scripts for them because of that. All they ever do is make me puke. My foot hurt enough that I drove through the snow storm to get them and my cane. These ones (Ultracet) well still made me puke but damn I'm so looped who the hell cares. My head has floated away and I don't care. Hallucinations...a side effect. Yea, gives me something more to look forward to.

It snowed another 3 inches last night and we're expecting a foot by Saturday. Screw this, I'm hiring someone.

Thanks to Rivin for finding Community Colleges near her looking to hire an anatomy/microbiology/ecology teacher (serious, I'm back in the market so if you know of a CC or small college hiring in that field feel free to suggest it)

Okay I think I'll go RPG while high. This ought to be interesting (it's that or write Ragna's B-day story...my muse is kicking. She likes chemical enhancements)

And while I don't usually read PWP, well.... it's Spike and Dru we're talking about. There is a serious lack of fics with them IMO. And they're the No1 couple in the Buffyverse. Definitely.

Lol, it's only my first year in Uni. What age do people start Uni over there then? I know the educational system is definitely different, cause over here we have till 16 in highschool, then you can either go work or if u get good grades go to a sixth form for 2 years to get A levels, and then if you do well you can get into Uni.

very different. Usually you're 17-18 when you graduate high school. You can go directly into college or to a junior college or go to work, depends on what you wnat to do. Most of us go directly to college if we can

yes that IS bad. Then again, a lot of times the first year isn't that different from high school. Everyone's settling in, trying to pick a major and the REAL work begins in year two. Or at least that's common here in the states

That's the thing, I've been out of highschool for two years, and sixth form wasn't at all like it.

And we don't get a chance to pick a major, most courses once you've picked them you're stuck with them, you have to take the subjects that go with them and that's that.

Yes we're very different in that way. We have such freedom of choice here in college, sometimes too much. Most AMericans change majors twice. Or you're like me. I have five separate degrees (well 4 official and one I never finished the paperwork)

Ok, wow. As in serious wow.

The lack of choice here is crazy. I am stuck with a business and computing course cause to go in for Computing by itself I needed Maths A level. And most of it is all business and maths and I hate it. Though what I REALLY would have loved to do is take a course in creative writing, but it doens't exist here. The closest is BA English or Bachelor of Communications, which will only give you a job in journalism or as a teacher.

And I'd swear to being better at programming than many of the Bsc ITs anyway.

i didn't realize you did it that way. Japan does too and I know my friends there have expressed their disappointment. I have a degree in chemistry, two in biology, one in medicine and the unofficial one is in English and I'm only two classes from one in history should I want to get it

*sigh* If only I could choose stuff I liked! I'd go for programming, webdesign, writing...

As it is the only way to get those is for me to go to a private course in them and those are very expensive. I've got enough on my plate just paying for the new computer so probably I'll have to try and teach myself from tutorials off the net, but it's not all that easy.

Well, basically the choices of subjects we make when we're 13 affect us for the rest of our life, that's when O level subjects are chosen, like Accounts and Eco, or sciences etc. Cause if we don't have an O level in a subject we usually can't take it at intermediate level and never at A level, and Uni courses depend on what A levels we have.

Of course, we have to get a matriculation certificate to get in, which means we have to have 2 A levels , 3 Intermediate Levels and Systems of Knowledge, and the marks we get in those subjects have to add up to a certain number of points. Plus, 1 subject has to be a language, 1 a science, and 1 a humanity(ie accounts or philosophy or religion,that kind of stuff), and the rest any that you choose. So they're very exact in what you have to have in order to get in.

And that's just the basics, cause each course then has special requirements like Med students can't have anything less than a B in ANY of their subjects(i have a friend who did great in Bio and Chem and wasn't allowed in the course cause of her mark in English!), and you have to have certain subjects at certain levels depending on the course.

As you can see, it's a headache.

At the age of 5 my brother developed a twitch in his eye from the stress school put him under. In secondary no one bothers explaining how the system works so loads of kids end up in stuff they don't want. The whole educational system here is whacked!!!

Well, the statistics guy I told you about is in charge of the Maths curriculum for the entire country. Need I say more?
