My ass is numb. My bad hand is a field of fire. I wasn't even supposed to be HERE today.

I woke up late but still ready to go to the Athens farmer's market only to have it be POURING outside. Wow was it raining and the wind was atrocious. Half the stuff on everyone's porch had blown into the courtyard. And it went from 90 degrees to the high fifties. It's going to be in the 40's tonight and every night for days. I'm going to SLEEP SO WELL! Dances and kisses autumn on the lips.

So safe from blowing all my money at the farmer's market, I sat here and fixed an entire unit of last year's lecture notes (and probably made it worse) I've also worked all day on my scarred soldier novella adding over 3000 words.

Mom wants me to buy this It's a bizarre place really. It's very obviously a double wide but as you page through the 20 odd photos you realize it has a horse corral (no barn and I think it's in town, this is the worst realty site I've ever seen, no info given about anything) and it has a huge pool. It's like the house was an afterthought.

I think you ought to buy it, too. A jacuzzi, too? And all that land? The house may be an afterthought, but it's really NICE.

that's very little land compared to many other houses in the same area that want less. This one is so expensive because of the pool which while i like them I'm not sure i want to care for them on my own. (sadly I'm not sure I could with the injuries i've had to both arms)

and since double wides tend to fall completely apart at the age of this one, if I sank over 100K into this I wouldn't have the money to repair it sorry to say

Well, I do agree about pool upkeep.

it turns out friends of moms has a robot pool cleaner. No running the pool vac or any of that noise. I would own that. I wouldn't care what I had to sell to get it if i were to buy this house

What you got earlier must have just gotten here- it started POURING about an hour ago. Just like the bottom fell out of the sky.

I can hardly move because I did too much (cooking and cleaning for guests tomorrow) this morning, and now my back is out and I can barely move. I'm not sure how much of a hostess I'll be, hobbled up like this.

I think that's an adorable looking place! But then I've lived in a trailer before, and we've already established my hillbilly lineage. We looked at a place very similar, where the house was kind of shabby but the landscaping, yard, pool, and hot tub were to die for. Unfortunately, half of the square footage of the house was up a staircase that was a fracture waiting to happen- not even a rail, and VERY steep narrow stairs. No way in hell. Gorgeous property, though. Is that property cheap enough so you could eventually improve or even build a new house on it? Is it in an area that is nice, somewhere you would want to live? Some of the double wides and mod homes aren't that awful, they just don't have quite the durability of a frame house - but they can be quite nice inside. Might be worth at least checking out...

it was a heck of a storm, eyeing what it did in NY

Sadly I don't want to live here period. I'm stuck here. Possibly forever so i have to make the best of it. I definitely do not want an old double wide and no it's not cheap enough. It's on the barely can afford it end of my scale. At least albany is close to athens which is more bearable than this place

Housing is definitely much cheaper there! That would be at least 200K here, especially if it was on a lot of any size, even in a rural area like where I am.

After many many months of house-hunting and long conversations with my realtor friend, I started to believe there is sort of a fate thing with house-hunting, kind of like with guys. First, you have to give up on the idea that there is anything out there that is perfect. There isn't. Then, once you can do that, and just be sort of relaxed and philosophical about it and keep looking, the right one will come along sooner or later, and you will definitely know it when you see it. (But the addendum to all that is, if the financing or inspection on THAT one falls through, then it wasn't the one meant for you after all...)

oh yes, housing is cheap here. no one has an education here or good jobs (except in Athens)

there is a lot of truth in what you just said. First I have to come to terms I'm stuck in this horrible place for the foreseeable future and I just haven't, not yet. This is one of the worst places I've ever lived and I've lived all over

The doublewide looks nice, but a pool? An in-ground pool? They're a lot of work.

Why do they have a round pen? Did the horse stay in the garage?

*is so confused*

they are a lot of work. As I said to Wildrider, it might be more work than I can do with two bad arms.

I don't know. I'm working why they have a pen myself

MOST houses here are confusing

Yeah, I wouldn't be at all surprised. Too many of my friends in FL had pools and once the initial 'yay!' was over, they all complained about the work. Except the one that had it's own screen enclosure, which at least kept out most of the debris.

...maybe the horse only stayed there part time?

Yeah.

Go with Creepy Murder House. At least when you go insane, we can blame the bad energy inside of it.

actually mom told me about this ROBOT that bigot girl has in her pool that does 100% of the cleaning. I don't give a shit how much that costs. If I get a house with a pool, a god damn robot is cleaning it.

possibly

That's what WILL happen

Well, then. I LIKE that idea.

Visiting horsie...just like dogs with shared custody or something.

Well, of course it'll happen, this just gives you an out.

YAY cooler temps!!

And that house doesn't look like you at all. It reminds me more of a cowboy's house (the house is always an after thought for them). Now, if you had livestock or scooters or old cars, I could see it. Trailer accomodations aside, Barry would love that place. I can hear him now: "Do you know how many scooters I could fit in that garage!?".

hahaha so you want to move to SE Ohio? You'd have room there for the critters.

yes it reminds me of that too. Outside of the pool and hot tub, that house isnt me

Autumn may be arriving here, too, but I'm not holding my breath.

The home does look a bit like a double-wide, but perhaps a more imaginative paint job would help.

you need it more than I

my fear is with double wides you get @ 20 years out of them before they start needing major repair. This is older. with the cost of it (which isn't unreasonable given the land and pool) i wouldn't be able to afford the repairs
