bonus points for the students who recognized this. We were discussing abnormal skin color today and I asked what does pallor look like. Two of them offered up, your face right now.
.....

okay fair point. I was pretty sick. Beginning to feel better now (I hope) but I was white as a sheet this morning.

Now it's RAINING. tons. as in dangerous flash flood generating type of rain. The thunder woke me at 3 am so yet another night with little sleep. It warmed up but it's coolking a bit now.

Okay so it wasn't just me who was disappointed by NCIS. Mom ranted for ten minutes about how much it sucked. And she's right. She's also right when she said there's hardly anything we like on TV any more. The shows we do like (BBT, NCIS, are getting long in the tooth and showing it). I really haven't been taken in by anything really. Warehouse 13 and Haven aren't bad. Castle is okay. So is there anything you're watching that you really like (reality shows aside).

hahaha, I started to write a post for my journal about how disappointing I found NCIS, and then deleted it. In all honesty, I quit watching a couple of years ago because the show had become so repetitive and stuck in the status quo, but I figured I'd watch this episode since, hey, BUILDING BLOWING UP, how could that suck? And yet somehow they managed. What a huge waste of potential. Sadly NCIS (like Supernatural) is one of those shows that I wish had been cancelled years ago so that I could keep my warm feelings intact, because all I feel for it anymore is a general sense of frustration and blah at all the wasted opportunities.

I really love Fringe, though I'm glad this will be its final season. The first couple of seasons were really excellent, twisty and dark and full of surprises, but it's starting to suffer from JJ Abrams syndrome where you get the feeling that the writers have no idea where it's going and are just throwing out random plot developments for shock value. Still, I'm sticking with it to the end. I also adore Community but I think it's probably a "love it or hate it" kind of show, and I'm afraid this might be the season it jumps the shark -- when it's "on", it's one of the best things on TV, but when it misses the mark, it's awful. White Collar is my fannish main squeeze; it's not brilliant but it's good at what it does, which is light caper comedy/drama. And we're watching "Life" on Netflix, which is a really interesting, quirky little cop-drama from a few years ago. ETA: Oh, and I forgot to mention Justified, which is absolutely brilliant! We're watching that one on DVD, though, so I'm still waiting for season 3 to show up on Netflix ...

Actually I really liked last season of NCIS a lot (but the 2 years before it, it was mediocre at best).

I lost interest in Fringe when they had Peter disappear last year and had the two verses.

Never seen community and never could get into White Collar. I didn't hate it but I just never remembered it was on.

I didn't hate NCIS as a whole but I did hate the ending. I'm just glad that story line is over.

I do agree that most of the shows I watch are getting long in the tooth, but I still watch them. I haven't really gotten into the new shows yet, so I can't really say that I like any of the new ones.

same here, i wish they'd bring back Jamie Lee Curtis though. I hated the end and I hated the FBI sting? WHy bother? if she could get that close to him on the street then why not hand cuff and haul off. That made no sense.

yeah I haven't either. sigh

OMG, really! That was beyond stupid. Sometimes the script writers make up the stupidest shit just to extend the plot. If they could find him so easily, either arrest him or take him out.

I was so distracted with trying to finish my Fic Contest story, I barely watched NCIS last night.

You know my shows: Burn Notice and Covert Affairs, The Big Bang Theory. I'm okay with It Takes a Thief/White Collar, but it's predictable. Nice eye candy, though. Royal Pains makes me giggle from time to time. Pretty much, anything on USA. And TBBT.

you missed nothing

I do but don't particularly like any of them other than BBT. Burn Notice and White Collar are okay but never really made me want to watch them I'm afraod

Whee.

I think I like a lot of the shows on USA because many of them have strong female characters (well, White Collar is the exception, IMO), who, while they may be the main guy's girl, often times, they can carry the show themselves.

I suppose that's true but it's true of most my shows (I think that's one of the reasons I like cop shows)

And a lot of those show up on USA. :D Well, at least the Law & Order part of them.

Speaking of which, did you see CW is remaking Beauty and the Beast? It looks...wrong and bad.

I've been enjoying the two fairy-tale shows that debuted this year, "Grimm" and "Once Upon a Time." "Grimm" is a worthy successor to "Buffy," only the baddies (and some of the good guys) are were-people, not vampires, and the protagonist is an adult, male cop with supernatural powers, not a high-school girl with supernatural powers. The show has started to develop a mythology, complete with shadowy royalty and a quest to find some lost keys, that could have turned cheesy but is being kept intelligent and involving by the writers. It doesn't hurt that the hero is cute as a button.

"Once Upon a Time" is more soap-opera, but it's wicked and clever and wickedly clever, and it's fun to guess which fairy-tale character is going to show up next (Pinocchio! The Mad Hatter! A very sexy Red Riding Hood!) Plus the two antagonists, Snow White's nemesis the Evil Queen and Rumpelstiltskin, are extremely well performed by their respective actors, and their epic struggle for control of Storybrook, the mundane town where all the fairy-tale characters been marooned, is highly entertaining in a Machiavellian kind of way.

Both of those shows start their new (second) seasons this week, but the new seasons of both of them build on the stories laid out by the first season, so they might be hard to pick up. You might try Netflixing or Huluing the first few episodes if you are interested, to see if you like them and to get a feel for the back stories.

I do watch Grimm but hated Once Upon a Time. I watched about half of last year before giving up. I think half my flist really likes this show though. I tried.

Actually Grimm started early. it's been on a for a month already then has been off for the lsat three weeks, go figure. I was rather hoping his fiancee would just die (that's how much I like her) I'm more fond of Monroe and his sort of girlfriend whose name I can never remember than I am of Nick

I like to watch 2 Broke Girls. The writing had been pretty good last season and they started out doing pretty good this year.

I was thinking of catching 666 Park Avenue but not sure what the premise is supposed to be for it. I'd have to read a synopsis.

I taped CSI but haven't watched it yet. I know the end of the season, DB's granddaughter was kidnapped so that's what they are going into right away.

I heard that Warehouse 13 is good but haven't watched it. It is on Netflix though.

BBC: Doctor Who, which is taped so I haven't watched the newest episodes left.

*thinks* I really don't watch anything else religiously on the Networks. It is usually TBS for Big Bang Theory.

I wanted to watch Bleach on Netflix as they had about two hundred episodes on but when I last checked, there was only the one movie. I know there were sections that I got confused at. Mostly the Arrancar episodes.

I didn't see 2 broke girls but I'm not a giant comedy fan

I've never even heard of 666 Paark avenue. hmmmmm

I like Warehouse 13, it's kinda light

Dr Who is taped here too, must catch up.

Ugh Bleach, started out good but now just one fight scene after another

Pallor? OOO. Not good, Scooby.

TV:
Dark Matters
Ancient Aliens
The Secret War (on military channel)
whatever ghost show is on
uh....
I don't watch much tv actually. When I do, usually it is a documentary on science, history, medicine, forensics, military (I have this odd fascination with WW2 - both arenas), etc.
