Through the Glass Darkly
Jan. 27th, 2005 12:40 pmSo, when I woke up this morning the sun was dazzling off the snow, like thousands of tiny gems had been cast across the ground. As I hobble outside to feed the starving raccoons and coyotes, I realize that it wasn't snow glare at all. The ground truly is covered with little gems. I go back inside and get my buckets and spend hours collecting them getting closer and closer to the woods as I go. Once I'm at the tree line I see the evergreens are now sporting slender rolls of hundred dollar bills in place of all their needles. I harvest them until I simply can't carry any more and still walk.
Once inside, there's a flash of light and the world returns to normal, two foot drifts of snow, pine needles where pine needles should be but everything I've collected is still gems and money. This eerie voice fills the house. The booty is mine to spend but know that to whomever I give the money to, calamity with befall them. The eerie-voiced bitch seems happy with her twisted genie spell, nothing like giving hope and taking it away.
I think about it. All the plans of helping friends and family are gone. THen I realize there's a loophole. I pay off all my student loans in one lump sum. Sears, Capitol One, Providian, all paid off. Who cares if bill collectors have calamity befall them. They'll be happy in purgatory and hopefully it'll look like the one they created for us all here. The gems are on their way to buy government bonds. I will live off the interest and then cash them in in a few years and enjoy my freshly laundred millions. Bwaaahaahaaa.
Okay back on THIS side of the rabbit hole, check out these Angel spoof comics. Quite amusing (thanks to
vampedvixen for the link) Some of the Buffy links are of an adult nature.
