So days I get too many. Today was dissecting day (cats, yes, this is where your shelter cats end up) One student nearly impaled his foot (don't ask), another got cat bits all over my shirt and another managed to wet me through to my panties with preservatives. 0_0!

God got me back for dissecting cats. I get home and hear a cat yowling. Are mine in the window? Yes they are. My neighbor goes, your cat is really upset. I look and I'm like that is NOT my cat. S/he ran over and tackled me and nearly got inside.



MOUTHY. Not in horrible shape. S/he (It won't let me look clearly, either a male whose balls haven't dropped or has been neutered or a female but s/he's all 'That's PRIVATE!'). I fed and watered him and gave him a shelter. If s/he's still here this weekend, I'll see what I can do. Soul, on the other hand, pissed everywhere near the door that he could. Later today when I was in the shower and pulled the curtain back to get out he was there with his ball and dropped in the water. Please play with me. It's making so horribly sad. I kept hoping I'd find a house and we'd have a yard and I could give him his own space or something. I've never ever had to give up an animal before other than to my parents. I'm having so much trouble with this.

It didn't help that my cousin posted some leviticus shit against gays on facebook tonight. I'm not, for the sake of the family peace, going to get into it with him because i KNOW it's a lost cause. But you know what,I'd rather he just come out and sayd 'I hate gays' rather than use the Bible as an instrument of intolerance and hate. That bugs the fuck out of me.

This semester is wearing me out. I didn't realize I looked so bad until I took off my make up tonight and it looks like I've b een punched in the eyes. yikes. Also I've worn myself out being a cheerleader with very little coming back my way. (If there is one thing I dislike about gsd_rtfn is that there are a small subset who literally don't interact at all wh ich is the whole point. Guess it's time to repay them in kind)

Forgot my endocrinologist appt is tomorrow, which means I have to drag out of bed early tomorrow to go bleed into tubes

Soul...I don't know what to tell you except what I already have. It hated giving up Loki the Lab, but he was killing me, and no one was willing to take him/take care of him in the household or out of it.

Your students need Darwin Awards. We managed cats without spilling any on ourselves or Dr. K. He's got a cast iron stomach or something... he was chomping on an apple the first week. Walked in this week to get the cats with a lollipop in his mouth. (He tossed that after he came out... it's stinky in the storage room.)

We did have drips of embalming fluid on our lab table and puddling on our tray. We sopped it up with paper towels and covered poor Lucky with them so he didn't dry out. We also poured the remainder of the liquid BACK into bag #1, and then made sure bag # 2 was super tight.

I think I'm more than a little bit horrified at their clean up skills... oh yeah. Blech.

We were all super conscientious and used the LpH spray with towels after making sure we had no chunks to wipe down all the lab tables. (Only A&P students do cats, and they are about the nastiest thing that gets dissected at our school. The HAIR is what makes the smell. I'm convinced. And the fat. The second week wasn't as bad. I knew what to expect and what would "be the worst" so I could avoid it or anticipate it.

So totally wrong place to say it, but that kitty is CUTE. Poor Soul. :( Tino has been very very problematic lately. I'm having to INVITE him onto the bed. He growled at me and ADVANCED/SNARLED last week when I tried to get into/make my own bed. We've put a quick and dirty end to that. The "Doggy Steps" come up or my door is closed when I am not at home/in my room.

It's a little better since last week, especially since Tino came with me to Wm's house last Saturday for an overnight.

I've been a very bad cheerleader at gsd_rtfn due to being distracted and busy with several things. I do look at most of the posts including yours. Maybe next time I'll be a better cheerleader.

Awe... poor Soul... it's hard to give up a pet cuz they really are family. Doesn't matter if they're furry, feathered or have scales.

It's probably best to stay out of things with your cousin. how sad he feels that way, but I don't know if you can change his mind about things...^^;

i know i can't. he's closed to any kind of argument. He's so goofy that he has this very intelligent job, he's smart, he's a scientist but believes this fundamental the earth is only 3,000 years old thing even though we have cultures that are older than that

Maybe you should turn off your cousin's Facebook feed. Nobody needs to read crap like that, except his little circle of conservative friends. It's just one more downer you don't need.

People don't know how to reciprocate anymore. It isn't their fault, they just weren't taught the give part of give and take, so they use sites and take cheerleading for granted and it never occurs to them to do something in return. In the same vein, my mother sees numbers of people, mostly young ones, who blow off court dates, come in days later, and are absolutely shocked when they're arrested because they now have warrants on them for failure to appear. They grew up without ever having been held accountable for anything, and they honestly can't imagine that anyone in the real, grown-up world has the power to punish them if they don't feel like coming in for a court appearance. Consequences is a foreign concept. It's scary.

Poor Soul. :( That was when we got the big cat condo/crate for Silly. He did seem to like having his own space, even if it was on the small side.

I keep my mouth shut with those sorts, too, but it's tempting to counter Leviticus with gospel from Matthew (7, "judge not" or 22, "love thy neighbor"), or a bunch of things Jesus said that rather directly counter Old Testament violence...
