A change of scenary helps
Apr. 13th, 2013 11:25 pmAfter getting pissed off that the post office did NOT in fact come back today with that damn dress forcing me to wait until Monday to go do laundry, I decided to go to the write-all-day camp nano marathon in Athens. What I did NOT know was that there was an ungodly amount of Ohio University events going on and there were drunk teens everywhere. Riding in the beds of pick ups, tossing beer cans out. Gah.
We started in the Donkey (coffee) bar. I didn't know there was an upstairs (ELD, did I take you here? I think I did. It's next door to the Moroccan restaurant and the world's least friendly comic book store) ANyhow I've been going here for years but never went upstairs (i.e. I am lazy and they are old an uneven death traps) but that's where we were. Up there was a strange energy and the maze like warren of rooms I expected. What I didn't expect was a covered balcony where we had taken over. It was in the 50s and bright and beautiful so with a light jacket it was just the perfect place to be. Writing and sipping coffee al fresco as you watch the absolutely batshit insane street. I got nearly 2,500 written. Also Donkey, if you charge me 3$ for one tiny cup of coffee with refills I'm going to bleed those refills dry on principle. I can drink A LOT of coffee btw but you know that now. We were there all day then went to the diner for dinner and more writing (well I got appetizers and came home to leftovers)
I was also the hero to the ML's young daughter and her friend. The friend had on a shirt with the FMA Flamel. "Nice shirt." Her 14 y.o. eyes lit up. 'YOU KNOW FMA?' I point to my FMA messenger bag. Why yes I do. They were also very impressed I've been to anime Boston.
I did talk to Big Sandy's. They claim they have NO idea what happened because they do not deliver from the store to somewhere so rural. It should have gone from warehouse right to me. THey have it in the warehouse but I CAN NOT take delivery until 2 weeks from now because of my schedule and my ML offered to come here to help me if I need it. Sigh. They did give me a gift certificate. Um, thanks? Can't you just take that 50 off my bill?
ETA I ended up with a little over 3K for the day

Date: 2013-04-14 04:27 am (UTC)No, I didn't know The Donkey had an upstairs, yes, you did take me, and I think I got something yummy, and enjoyed the place itself. I remember the unfriendly comic book store, as well.
Dear Big Sandy's:
STOP WITH THE STUPID.
No love.
