And just gets WAY overdramatic. I had my annual ob/gyn visit today which was fine (this sort of thing is no big deal to me) and they asked. 'want a flu shot?' My thoughts went to the email I got yesterday informing me if I was a Gallia county resident I could get it at work by a registered nurse. I am not. So MY shot would be given to me by MY nursing students. Oh hell no. Shot please!!!

I was fine other than having an allergic reaction to the bandage tape...until about an hour and a half later in class when my body decided. IT HAS THE FLU! I was achy, feverish and I'm still exhausted. It's like body? REALLY? Get a grip and leave the overacting to Mr. Shatner. That said I came home and just vegged.

But I did get something from a student today that was interesting. I had her in her 2 year nursing sequence. We're about the same age and both diabetic. Her son, after developing an autoimmune illness did much like my brother did, immersed himself in both holistic and western medicine and came up with things about Blackstrap (and only black strap due to the way it is made and the iron content) as being good for anemia and constipation (especially secondary to diabetes). She's tried it and has had less issues that way but has also lost weight. Hmmm...

The only other thing going on here is me being a geek. So have some geek radio. One of my local writer friends is a DJ here. Cape Radio

I have NEVER even considered that about Indiana Jones and now I can't stop thinking about. That said I laughed harder tonight than I have at this show in a why. The ending with Leonard and his mom killed me.

I slept through the caber toss. On the ground. About twenty feet away. :D I woke up when the British Isle hounds started baying. Shows how much my own self-worth comes into play when I'm sleeping.

After I got my flu shot, I didn't feel sick, but damn I was tired the rest of the week. I don't know if the shot was to blame, but I didn't do anything different that week, so I think that was the cause.

It's not that surprising really. the point of the vaccination is to trick the body into making antibodies when you're not actually sick. So it reads the antigens on the vaccine and acts accordingly making you feel off

yep that sounds like a work place. I used to have huge issues with the shot (ethnic background vs what they used to suspend it in which has changed) but I'm getting better. I probably just need sleep

they may have. Back in the 90's whatever it was in reacted badly to Mediterreans and Egyptians. My boss wouldn't buy it. He had three Resident doctors, me and Miggs were Italy and FS was Egyptian. They insisted on the shot. All three of us ended up down for a week as a result.

I slept too much. Yay friday.

*nods* Yeah? WOW! I know last year, I still got the flu despite the shot, but that didn't stop me from getting it this year. I figured it was a strain not covered by the shot.

yeah it's just a guessing game with these shots. If they miscalculate (which happens often) you still get the flu. I haven't had a flu in years but now with me being diabetic both my job and my doctors go insane if I don't get it so..

Yeah, I can't stop thinking about those revelations on Raiders, too. Darn it! It's still a great action flick, dang it!

Of course, amidst the humor, I can't help but wonder how the writers managed to think there was ANY woman who didn't like Raiders -- everyone I knew loved it, if only because Harrison Ford was so freakin' hot...

Okay to be honest, I'm having more and more trouble with TBBT and it's total denial of the female geek. It's getting downright sexist at this point. I could handle Penny not liking it (and thinking others wouldn't because her friends wouldn't). It didn't help to have Bernadette and Amy pile on. I thought finally with Raj's regrettable girlfriend last year we'd have the female geek because of where they met but no. There has been a sum total of one female geek who wrote her own comics and some slams against fat comicon girls. sigh

That is really my only beef with TBBT -- writers, there ARE geek girls -- even beautiful ones, gorgeous ones, who would be willing to date someone like Raj or Stewart or even Sheldon! Girls who watch Star Trek and Star Wars and would be willing to discuss these things with the guys in just as much exhaustive detail...

The funny sometimes does wear thin when they totally disregard an ENORMOUS swath of fan/geekdom. (And hell, talk about some dramatic tension -- a pretty young fan in a Wonder Woman or Sailor Moon costume discussing Doctor Who seriously with Sheldon -- imagine Amy's shock and alarm!
