Not only did my stove blow up AGAIN, Facebook gave me a virus. My computer is all but useless. Let's hope it doesn't cost me an arm and leg to fix it and that it doesn't take forever.

My landlord gave me shit about the cats on the porch and my apt in general. It is a mess. Does he think I don't know that? And also NO I don't have frozen dinners. I can't 'just use the microwave,' until you feel like fixing this. He seemed stunned that I always cook.

And now, I have to pray that a) my main flash drive isn't affected or I've just lost all my stories b) that my old computer has the tests on it so I can have my finals. They're in 2 days. Fuck.

And I LOST my teaching philosophy which was the first clue as to the virus (well Kaspersky said it caught one. Apparently it didn't STOP it) when it not only didn't save my changes, it didn't even recognize I had accessed that file.

And I'm shaky and I don't know if that's just rage or if my sugar is going to crash out.

I'm going off to cry.

yeah my netbook was nearly wiped out 2 years ago and has no internet as a result of the damage. I got this computer last year because of the damage done to the other. I know. I mean Kaspersky is one of the highest rated antiviruses and I'm not using a free version. Sigh.

somehow it's still online so I'm not turning it off. i'll call the local fix it shop tomorrow

Horrible. I didn't know you could get a virus from Facebook. And I didn't know Kaspersky caught stuff but didn't stop it. How awful. Do you have a cloud backup?

oh this isn't the first time I've gotten it from facebook and/or yahoo. It's those damn ads but this one said it was from the Pengle game (many of which are supported by more ads).

Yeah it popped up and said Trojan and listed Pengle so I thought it was fine until I accidentally cut power to the computer turning it off and activating that damn thing.

no but I have almost everything on flash. I couldn't do the cloud until recently. I'll have to look into carbonite or something next year

if you have a geek squad/best buy near by, I would take it to them. I've had to use them more than once for infections, and they do a good, fast, affordable job.

finally, after 20 years, moving back to the city is going to give me libraries again - one huge one downtown and a smaller outlet closer to the new house. being able to check out a book and not having to buy and quickly regret is going to be very very wonderful :)

Every so often I see something in DC forums about viruses in the adds, so I use adblock & so far, knock on wood, *raps my knuckles on my head* I've been lucky. You might want to do that when you your compy back. I hope you didn't lose too much stuff & you get it back in time for your student's finals!


I cook dinner every night, except weekends, so there are peeps out there, who actually make dinner instead of nuking Mr. Landlord. *rolls eyes at him* As long as it's not a fire hazard or a bio one, who cares if it's a bit messy? Ask him how he'd feel if someone dumped him in the middle of nowhere with not food or water, bad weather & a family to take care of? Ask him if he woudl take shelter wherever, and would depend on the kindness of strangers to help make it through the night? ;p

yeah well I get that Landlord is under stress. He's too old for this for one, his wife has been in a nursing home/rehab for months now and three sets of neighbors are fighting eviction but yeah no need to take that out on me.

At least the stove top works so I can pan fry or boil.
