Everything was in my bra today
Dec. 13th, 2013 12:07 amA trottole from lunch, a piece of chocolate that stained one whole cup, a brass arrow off my steampunk necklace (poking me while I'm rocketing up the highway at 70 m.p.h.). Know what wasn't in my bra? Anything fun.
I'm giving that student a chance to fix her paper. She (and two others from two other people's classes) seemed honestly confused. All three told us they thought that when we said 'cite a paper' we meant to 'copy it wholesale.' I'm not sure WHY. I gave her 24 hours to make it right.
The Anime and Gaming club is official. The secretary told me I had students waiting on me at the party and I was very whiney about it because my students took all 2 hours on my test and I had to throw them out and I got to the potluck in the last 15 minutes after everything was baked hard or gone but it was the geek squad BOUNCING in the hall to tell me we were accepted by the Board of trustees (who knew they were the ones to weigh in on this stuff?). I have to go make us a bank account so they'll give me the 500$ to give to them to go to the con. None of them have been before. They want me to go with them. I told them I can't go all three days but I can meet them there. I'm head geek um faculty advisor after all.
I NEED some help again ladies and gentlemen. I need to decide on my bio for my novel. Here are my considerations:
1) Bio should be no longer than 300 words.
2) Bio should begin with the author's name.
3) Bio should be in third person.
4) Do not include published titles or works in progress.
5) Include personal information that will help a reader connect to you.
6) Include awards, etc.
Here's my current bio. I'm not sure it's zingy enough. What do you think? Suggestions more than welcome.
I had put up the Fill December Meme and a couple of you chimed in. Then my internet died. Then the computer got sick. And it's finals. and it's apply for job time (I did it btw. I applied to Gettysburg and now I feel nauseated). If you want to ask me a question, do but let's make it January at this point.
Anyhow,
bay115 asked what music do I like to write to. That depends. Honestly I can write to anything so let's talk about the things that are more interesting. If I can, I try to write to music that talks to me about the story I'm writing. For example check out Jana's post tonight my music for writing my Welsh short story. The character really is my homage to Damh the bard so I've been listening to his stuff a lot for it. Damh has just wonderful pagan music and musical retellings of Welsh legends.
For writing Temple, Agni, Caleb and Jo I listen to swing and a ton of music from the 20s and 30s which is an interesting experiment since it's so far out of what we listen to today. I sometimes compromise and listen to modern swing like Big Bad Voo Doo Daddy (I highly recommend them) Temple’s music
While I still can not for the life of me imagine what far future music will be like, I CAN find today and yesterday's music to write Aneurin and Kaleo's story to. Kaleo moreso than Aneurin. Apparently there is no boring scientist music. Kaleo's music is angry and rebellious. Behind Blue Eyes, Welcome to the Jungle, Uprising all work for him.
So long story short, I try to match the music to the story. Failing that I wander around youtube now that I can or Pandora which I think I routinely break making it shuffle from pagan to country to alt to classical.
I was so dehydrated today coming home my fingers looked like i'd been in the pool for hours, all prune.

Date: 2013-12-13 07:37 am (UTC)Thanks for answering my question! Yeah when it comes to music I'll match it with what I'm trying to write also. I used to play music on Pandora but been listening to music on Spotify a lot lately, haha.

Date: 2013-12-13 05:39 pm (UTC)Honestly, in all three cases we professors agreed, they were TOTALLY confused on this point. I have no idea WHY mind you but let's see if a lesson is learned.
