Boy that took forever

I didn't want to be writing on the fly tomorrow so I wrote up several blog posts for my release party. I am ready as I'll ever be. Again you can find me here tomorrow Dreampinner’s blog and I will be giving away one copy of the ebook so if that's something that will interest you, show up for that post at least. But wow that took ALL night.

And all day I was working on my homework for the students. Also took forever. So much time that I haven't worked on my damn FMA big bang in days. Sob. AND I forgot to vote at the fma fic contest. Gah. I got so busy I forgot. I feel like an ass.

I found another music list so at least I had stuff to listen to but I'm still puzzled on a lot of these as to who is voting for them. Ah well different strokes...

Mom made me laugh today.

Mom- I found another gift I was supposed to give you

Me - birthday gift.

Mom - I got it at think geek, Thor's hammer

Me - It's not a gift if you TELL me what it is.

Mom- It has other Avengers on it. It has the Flash.

Me - wrong universe. That's Thor's lightning not the Flash's.

Mom - oh, well it has all the Avengers on the package so I figured...

She calls me later in the day.

Mom - I'm keeping the earrings.

Me - ...


Dungeons and Dragons turns 40

I keep saying the polar vortex isn't that bad to me. This might illustrate why. Here is where I lived in Rhinelander/Three Lakes WI (the snowmobile capitol of the world!) Rhinelander weather I was there from August 2004 and until Rhinelander weather June 2005 some of those 20 belows had wind chills of -40. That's the day I decided to fall down the stairs in the unheated garage and break my ankle. I spent the rest of the winter shoveling snow (that could fall a foot at a time) with a CAM walker soft cast on. Fun times. Up until this I was hiking in it for fun. I still went out in the CAM boot.

Mom stole my gift

At first I didn't know it was broken. I had fallen down the steps in Zog's garage while taking scraps out to the compost (i.e. feeding the critters). I had to hobble inside and have him take me to the emergency room.

I was very doubtful about it just being 'sprained' even though the doc let me read the x-rays because of how black and swollen it was but the x=rays were non-weight bearing and worth shit. I went home with a brace and pt video and the pain was so bad I had to improvise a tent over my bed because of the pain of a sheet touching it was too much to bear.

After about 6 weeks I was sent to PT for the pain and he ultrasounded it and I about fell off the table. He said this is broken. I said yeah, probably talar dome (which couldn't be seen in the x-ray) I told my ortho, he sent me for an MRI but still didn't get a shot of the talar dome. Still he put me in the cast and miraculously it finally healed because you know it was BROKEN.

That sounds like your Mom. Did you get your shower curtain back, or is it still blocking the wind blow in the basement?

I remember you complaining about it, now that I think about it. I still don't remember the 'broken' part, though. Glad you got a cast on it, though, eventually.

It does and I did but I have been too busy with school start up to clean the bathroom and hang it up. Soon. Maybe this weekend.

Yeah it was very tough since it was my right foot and I couldn't ask Zog to drive me to work every day and I often had to walk on campus far because they wouldn't let me have temporary handicapped parking

Well, you don't have a lot of body weight there to help out. I was out snowshoeing in the sub zero temp, well trying to snowshoe. Mostly falling face first into drifts bigger than me.
