A friend got her master's today. I couldn't make the hooding but I did go to the party at Buffalo Wild Wings. It was nice. Also I had no idea how good their sauces are. Wow, the spicy garlic is good but the thai curry was delicious. I wanted to bring it home. Now I'm stopping myself from going on the net to see if they sell it.

Anyhow she got her masters in English and we're all very happy for her. She also got to go on an enviable trip to Italy as part of her studies. Wow.

I had to get my blood drawn today. They fucked it up. The nurse destroyed my left arm before asking for help then asked 'do we need to use a butterfly on you?" yes you do. After establishing that a butterfly will cause less issues with vein rolling and collapse phleb two still using the 18 gauge on me and I have a grape sized hematoma and my entire antecubital region is blue with bruising. She had to keep digging after the vein and still didn't get enough blood. If they had listened...

I made

about 5 1/2 dozen

Ingredients

1 1/2 cups confectioners' sugar
2 tablespoons cocoa powder
1/2 teaspoon ground allspice
1/2 cup dark rum
2 tablespoons light corn syrup
2 1/2 cups finely crushed vanilla wafers
1 cup finely chopped, toasted walnuts

Directions

Into a large bowl, sift together 1 cup of the confectioners' sugar, the cocoa powder and allspice. Stir in the rum and corn syrup. Stir in the vanilla wafers and walnuts, and mix well. Place in the refrigerator to firm up slightly, about 30 minutes. (The mixture may appear crumbly and dry; this is O.K.)

Place the remaining 1/2 cup confectioners' sugar in a shallow bowl or dish.

Using a tablespoon, scoop out portions of the chocolate mixture and press into 1-inch balls. Using your hands, roll the balls in the confectioners' sugar, coating evenly.

Place on a baking sheet, cover with plastic wrap and refrigerate overnight. Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2 weeks, placing waxed paper between the layers to prevent sticking.
By Emeril Lagasse for tomorrow's after graduation bash. Kanda was upset. I SEE you with balls in hand. GIVE ME ONE. Sorry dude, these are filled with chocolate and coconut rum. You can't have it.

those sound insanely delicious.

I can't give blood anymore because I can't fill up the test vials at the end and don't know why. they try the butterfly needle and still can't get enough. And the bruising is so awful.

Isn't "B-Dubs" great? that garlic one is my favorite.

they are. You can also substitute bourbon for the rum.

I have to do this for my diabetes testing. the other clinic is better at it.

I haven't been to one in 15 years until tonight. I don't really do wings but yes the sauces were great. I'd go back for that.

I had blood drawn yesterday. My new doctor has a lovely, in-house phlebotomist who laid me down and talked me through so there was no dizziness or fainting or even a hint of it. Most excellent. She said it was a good thing that, as a fainter, at least I have good, easy veins.

I may have to try those coconut rum balls...

well that's great. I don't care about the needles since I'm not phobic but i do care when they don't listen and hurt me. Also my veins are a bitch.

They are good. Easy. I like easy since I don't bake.

SHut it.

Listen freaky, shrimp is divine. It's what we eat in heaven (okay technically no, according to Leviticus but I suspect that book is SO wrong)

Not when you have to peel them completely.

I did like the tiger prawns, but that might've been because Dad let me pick them out and we smoked them on the smoker (before you moved in with me).

Too many legs.

Yeah, It seems we smoked them with some orange wood from the trees and oranges, too; but I can't remember what else happened.

1. Buy fresh tiger prawns
2. Get smoker.
3. Oil grill of smoker.
4. Put tiger prawns on top rack of smoker.
5. Add wood for flavoring.
6. Keep an eye on the prawns, because they cook relatively quickly, and you don't want them rubbery.

There? That's what I recall.
