So I'm going to Texas
Jun. 11th, 2014 09:25 pmWell not until next year. My conference is in San Antonio over Memorial Day. I didn't go this year but unless something major happens I need to go next year for work. I'm not a huge yay Texas kind of person but I've never been to San Antonio. I showed Dad the picture of the Riverwalk. It was more or less a big stinking nothing when he was stationed there in the 60s. I'm sure I can find interesting things to do in San Antonio. I think in 2016 the con will be back to Canada.
Got the oil changed today and picked up my front brake pads. I have to replace them. Well Dad and Uncle D will replace them. I'll just help. I'm not complaining. These are the original brakes with 65K on them. They did well.
Went to see Grandma today and went to the good gyro place, My Big Fat Greek Gyro, and boy do you get the meat on it. Lovely.
Does anyone know why in the last five years or so movies and TV shows are running the background music SO loud you can't hear the damn actors? I'm getting very tired of this.

Date: 2014-06-12 01:50 am (UTC)I don't know, but it's annoying. I've also noticed that fight scenes (or other action scenes) aren't getting music much anymore. It's weird to hear background music really loud, and then the music suddenly stops because of an action scene. Don't they do complete soundtracks anymore? Why have a soundtrack at all if you're going to be so inconsistent?

Not pleased with the whole look at the text message/computer screen for important info and you can't SEE it.

Date: 2014-06-12 03:35 pm (UTC)I'm almost glad it's not just me. I have hearing loss so for a while I thought it WAS just me. But it's annoying, holy hell is it annoying to hear nothing but the damn music and NOT the dialog I'm meant to hear

Date: 2014-06-12 10:05 pm (UTC)I loved the Riverwalk, the Alamo, and a little assemblage of tourist shops set up in a little pueblito setting. Best Mexican Food south of NYC, and east of ...El Paso....
And yes: the damned music gets louder and louder. Let's not talk about the loudness of the commercials. Oy!
P.S. How's your shoulder?

Date: 2014-06-13 12:30 am (UTC)I did hear there's going to be a mandate that they can NOT blast commericals any more. I sure hope that's true.
I see the doc for clearance tomorrow

Date: 2014-06-13 02:26 am (UTC)I agree with the background music. Far too loud. Especially at theaters.
