Failed at star gazing
Aug. 13th, 2014 10:06 pmI tried twice to watch the perseids but didn't get cooperation. It looked like a horror night sky, full moon glowing and massive gray clouds rolling by at high speed.
Went to see grandma. She was an unintentional howl. She is still preoccupied with her funeral. She said 'after it's over, I want it all to be quiet.' Mom and I aren't even sure what she means yet then it dawns. 'No alcohol. You take them all up your house (mom's).'
Me - And then what?
Gran (thinks for a moment) - eat a piece of chicken for me.
Me- what kind?
Gran -fried chicken and only ONE piece per person. This needs to be cheap (Mom starts losing it. Gran is notoriously cheap. She could squeeze the buffalo off a nickel)
Me- okay, cheap, got it. What else
Gran - rigatoni. You don't buy it. Stay cheap. You make it. Hot sausage salad and dessert. Remember one piece per person (Mom is now hiding behind the whiteboard we use to communicate with her, laughing her ass off).
Me - Fine, I can do that.
Gran - Lucky Uncle loves his mother. He is so depressed. (we argue for a moment over this) You don't let him be alone (pointing to mom then reconsiders and looks to me ) No, YOU take Lucky Uncle with you. You take care of him.
Me - What about his wife.
Gran - to hell with her (Mom nearly needed my asthma inhaler she was laughing so hard).
The authors on my list need to see this one. Pitch War contest I haven't looked it over completely yet but this looks to be a great opportunity for us.

What I just finished - SOmething More than Night by Ian Tregillis. It was a wild ride. I don't have it reviewed yet.
What I'm reading now Cursed in the Act Bram Stoker and his assistant (the pov character) solve a mystery at the theatre Stoker runs
What I plan to read - I'm sure I'm spoiled for choice.
