Worked hard to get my classes ready

All but one are. However, HUGE change happened at work. I look away from my email for 2 days...The new provost dumped that idiotic J-term. While no one objected to an intercession term for those wild different classes you've always wanted to do, we DID object to it being in JANUARY. For field biologist it was pointless. And frankly if a student didn't have to come why would they in Jan. The real reason is, though not outrightly stated was budget. Our former president dumped this on us and ran. I assume she expected we would work for FREE. Know anyone willing to do 3 weeks of overtime for free? It's not in our contract and there isn't money or the willingness to find money to pay us for it. If we revisit it, I hope they do it in May like most schools.

Is that a yay thing or a boo thing regarding your school? It seems like it could go either way, except for the lack of money.

I wasn't planning on doing it and I thought it was to the detriment to the students because they would graduate way later than others, messing them up on the job market end so it's a yay it's gone.

I'm a bit confused with the semester business... but it sounds like a lot of trouble

We were moving to a short three week semester in January known as an intercession and then starting the actual spring semester in Feb which would put our grads 3 weeks behind most other grads not to mention that we're not contracted for that so it would have to be supplemental pay. The provost couldn't gut that nonsense fast enough. Now to get him to ditch this 4 day nonsense that's killing our labs and our working parent students

One thing, to get more tuition money to offset the 15 million dollars we're in the hole but that only works if she could make us work for free
