just putting them here so they're somewhere.

Not so much ideas but snippets of something.

One isn't much more than the idea that it might be fun to use something dark like the exportation of criminals and rebels from England to Australia but make it purely a fantasy world. That Australia would be populated by some friendly people (which were missed when the 'euro-centric' people first 'discovered' the country) and some violent nasty things (that weren't missed). It would probably be 1700s tech with magic.

The other would be set in Point Pleasant (but NOT use the mothman), young woman, early 20s, I'm thinking teenaged mom (maybe thanks to date rape drugs, or just bad decisions, not sure yet), probably a student at my college (which would be incidental).

I know I would like it to be a ghost story or some evil spirit sort of thing. I was listening to a druid podcast this week and the guy was talking about being in the faerie realm (he believes it, i'm not sure I do) and how some aren't friendly, how some places just feel 'bad.' Now that I do believe. I've experienced that and Point Pleasant feels wrong. Yes it has been cursed by a Native American, Corn Stalk (yes for real) but that feels like something I'd rather downplay as both cliched and insensitive. But it might be interesting to see what the local Native tribes believed haunted the river front.

That second one sounds interesting, indeed.

I'll ask around if anyone knows a good source of local folklore. Online all you get is Mothman and CornStalk

I'm sure.

I was thinking last night that he might've been named CornStalk because he was tall and skinny.

Curly, CornStalk...c'mon, it makes sense. My other thought was he was rather prolific with children...or threw his seed around everywhere.
