The wine reception and silent auction weren't exactly what I expected. Apparently the 'talk' was at school when we were all in class. Mostly this was an exhibition of the photographers art to bid on and he did talk a little about the wells and the poet read a couple poems but over all it mostly the same 12 faculty members who go to everything hanging and talking. Our new provost was there. Now I did talk to both photographer and poet and they were very nice and I had a good time.

I desperately wanted two of the pieces but they were bid up and the start was 75$. There were 3 at 30$ (not framed) but they didn't speak to me. There was one I did nearly buy but talked myself out of it. I just have SO much wall art, 90% of it not hanging. I did learn Command hangers suck donkey and it's not just me they don't work for (one piece, the one we ALL wanted, fell but wasn't damaged other than the frame). I settled for buying the book of ALL the wells and had him sign it. It was a better use of my money. Yeah I didn't get a piece of art I wanted but at least I have story fuel in book form.

Then my friends and I went out to Tuscany Cuccini for dinner.

I'm annoyed with myself again. I have all my beads in one place (except the huge bag of marble) but not my FINDINGS. I had to stop at walmart to try to get jump rings to finish something for tomorrow.

Also I tried a second time to water marble my nails, this time using Sinful Colors 'Candy Coated' as the based (the blue/purple/periwinkle color) and the dark blue is OPI's Dating a Royal, but I do think OPI isn't that great for water marbling.

My friend SA sent me both of these and they might be the best things I've seen all week.

I sort of want this little boy.

I've had good luck with the command stuff. I live in an old plaster walled house it isn't easy to hang things even with power tools.

I put a short review on goodreads for you, I didn't post it anyplace else yet because I want to lengthen it, but migraine says "no"; I let myself get a little dehydrated yesterday and I always get migraines after that even after careful cooling and rehydrating *sigh*

well that's good. I've had no luck with them. Even posters tear them down. I've been too afraid to try anything really heavy like they did last night

Oh thank you so much. Believe me I know exactly what you mean. I've had one for 2 days with this 90+ degree weather.

The hubby gets hooks that are supposed to hold up things that are heaver than what we are putting up. There are a few sizes that we never use.

I think that the storms haven't helped. I mean it was super hot and stormy (on this side of PA/DE) and it really hasn't been this way this summer.

Crazy shoulder thing isn't helping either *sigh*

Ha! OMG, Newton v. Nye was awesome. (The cameo from Degrasse-Tyson didn't hurt.)

I like the blue nails. They look lovely against (I'm assuming) Kanda's fur.

I understand the frustration of those auctions. This weekend they're auctioning off some of Waylon Jennings' things here in the Valley -- I know damned well I can't afford anything, I don't even want to know how much they're going for!

Degrasse-Tyson made it even more awesome.

thanks. Yes Kanda is a frequent back drop for me. He's placid that way.

Oh yeah (and now I'm thinking of stopping at the Madog center to see if they have what didn't sell because surely he doesn't want to pack that all up and send it back to Wales, right?).

Yeah you know you can't afford Waylon Jennings but then there's a little voice that says but maybe there's something that will go in my price range...

Closeout sale!!!

Yes, and idiotically, one of the things that really piqued my interest was not Buddy Holly's motorcycle or Waylon's guitars, oh, no, but apparently there will be several braids of Willie Nelson's HAIR. Go figure.

I am insane, apparently.
