Bet you didn't see that coming! My friend DS and her husband work with the Hell Betties and they invited me to come out to a fund raiser for them, a showing of the world's first roller derby slasher flick. For a slasher flick, it was pretty well done and kudos to the Athena theatre for using locally sourced, organic popcorn (and cheap too for theatre popcorn).

I had a fun time. Then the team went to the West End cider house and it was packed. You know I don't know how anyone affords bars these days. Granted bar drinks have always been pricey but you can't get anything under 6$ these days. I got a Them Apples semi-sweet cider which was very pale almost green-yellow. Also if that was semi-sweet I'd hate to see their dry.

I hung out, won some stickers and pins on the trivia game and I did have to decline the offer. As ELD pointed out, I'm aggressive enough but my body has failed me. I also live too far away to do anything with them without seriously putting myself out on a regular basis (the same reason I don't try out for plays with my friend, L.)

A good ending to a crappy week.

Kanda is mad at me. I trimmed his nails. THis is the first time he's really given me shit about that.

Oh I keep forgetting this but for the writers on the list check out [livejournal.com profile] spook_me I've done this challenge often. It's a fun Halloween fanfic (or original) challenge. I'm doing one of each in theory.

I got my edits back from my holiday story. Took care of them easily for once.

Yeah, I find the only reason to go to a bar is to either meet someone or listen to live music -- and in the former case, maybe adjourn to someplace cheaper (like home) where one can talk and have five or six drinks for $6....

I wonder if I should sign up for Spook Me, if I can think of anything.

Mostly I do go out for the music or meeting someone. But I do like craft beers but at those prices I'm not going to have more than 2 which is fine because of how strict (rightfully so) drunk driving laws are. One glass and technically you're drunk

it's low pressure and as short or long as you want it to be

True.

Mostly when I want to try a new beer I do one of those "make your own six-pack" things so I can test something and decide if I like it. I should try them at bars (because you can get more, and on tap), but since I am the ONLY person I know locally who drinks beer, I never go. :)

I have to drive to the Athens Krogers to do that (and I do but since it's a 100 mile round trip, it's cheaper for me to hike to the bar and buy one.) I like that because it lets me know what beer might be stinker before I buy a six pack (they had nothing left when I was there last week but a few things I didn't want. I've never seen it that decimated)

Yeah, I've seen it at times when I don't want to try anything, but sometimes I can get a good selection. I have a few places I can do that, though, and they're considerably closer than 100 miles. :)

there are benefits of living in a city :-)

Usually they have a good selection (I got one from a brewery in constant use since 800 AD or something insane like that). I think it had a lot to do with it being a saturday night

I've always wanted to see a live roller derby bout. Sounds like fun!

Poor Kanda. (playing world's tiniest violin)

It does. They don't play til feb so maybe I'll go see them.

Kanda scoffs at your mock sympathy and flops around pretending he's SO put upon
