and in less than a week's time I've volunteered to help write the policy for the non-Christian religious holidays (since we already get off the major Christian ones) and ended up being put in charge of that, help write the transgendered policies and today the dean and provost volunteered me to do extra training to help better serve veterans. I said yes. And two weeks ago I volunteered to be a safe zone ally for our LGBT students (also requiring extra training). And oh I volunteered to read a banned book for banned book week.

Please. Someone stop me.

Story help I'm working on my 1930s demon hunters story and I'm looking for a derogatory term for an Indian servant. I know there pretty much had to be one during the British colonial period but I can't find anything online. Does anyone know? Thanks.


Mom and Dad made it to CT. Mom asked me to call Aunt S2 to keep her in the loop (i.e. threw me under the bus since Aunt S2 does nothing but talk). I did learn something I didn't know. They're quite religious so I was very surprised to learn that her identical twin the now-passed Aunt S1 could read cards and predict the future with such accuracy it frightened her and she stopped. And their Irish great-granny did the same with coffee grinds. Interesting.

I had to go to Jackson during the apple fest parade day to get something from the library and the store. I did get an apple and I did NOT over buy at the library book sale. In fact they had almost no mysteries or fantasy. Either it sold out in the first two days. I only got 3 books (well 8 but the 5 paperbacks are romances for Aunt S2)

The only thing that comes to mind at the moment is "wog", but I think that's just a general term for all Indians. Let me think on it & try to come up with something when I get back from work as well as finish reading this. XD (That part stuck out XD)

Yeah later she does refer to him as a wog. But I was thinking there was one that specifically meant servant.

Okay. I did find "Bobajee" which is cook. There's Bhai (younger brother) which became "Boy" for any servant, but thats's about it. Hope that helps. :D

"Wog" and "nigger" were the favored pejoratives, I believe. The Brits applied them to pretty much anybody with skin darker than a paper bag, so they aren't Hindu-specific, but they work.

There are worse things than being the college's resident GLBT expert. At least the GLBT students have a sympathetic presence on campus now, so you're providing a wonderful service. Pat yourself on the back--then go book yourself a session at a day spa, because you're gonna need the rest and relaxation after all that work.

I did have her calling him a wog. Agni is referring to his not wanting to be Derogatory serving boy. Wog is pretty general. I was wondering if there was something servant specific. I had wallah but the more I look at that, it's not really derogatory. It just means to do something.
