I'm at the teeth pulling point
Sep. 9th, 2015 11:58 pmEvery story has one. Where you know where you are and you know where you need to be but the road between the two is a black hole sucking your will to write ever again unless it's the protagonists bloody death.
This is compounded by the fact that I'm dredging up 11 year old memories and failing. This is making me sad. Like for instance, could I walk to Lake Colby from the Cassadaga Hotel (I think so) does Colby Park have parking? Does the path to the eerie steps that remain of Colby's house lie on a path that includes the lake?
And compounded more by the fact that i think first dates are kinda boring. Even when you're on them and you're enjoying talking to the other person. Yeah that's nice but to anyone watching this? Snoozefest. I've already interrupted one such session with a psychic vampire. I'm going to move into first kisses because a) short story b) need to get this fucker moving but bah. Even the looming deadline and my deep desire to be in this anthology and sharing grandma's recipes isn't moving me. Maybe if I found Florida more interesting....
So anything two psychics can talk about on a first date anyone? One's geeky, the other is a bit geeky but not a complete geek.
Speaking of which still no one ever read my Vegas story (not you guys, you know what I mean, others not on my flist.) SIGH.
And I have no reviews at all on Soldiers almost three weeks later and stories that came out afterward are plastered with reviews. I guess I know how I'm received.
Had a weird thing happen today. The anime/gaming students were approached by a new faculty member who likes gaming but not anime and rather bashed all over it and sort of hinted around about coming to the gaming sessions. I told them if this person becomes more uncomfortable to be around I'll come to the meetings and sort them out. I don't usually go to the gaming/anime watching sessions because a) I think it would weird them out b) I'm faculty advisor NOT mom and c) I have other things to do but will go if they need me.

*smiles* "That's okay, I like the daleks, but I can take it or leave it when it comes to the cybermen."
"Yeah?" *pauses* "So who's your favorite Doctor? I'm a huge Ten fan, and Eleven's pretty's cool too."
"I thought you were a fan of Twelve?" *amused smile*
"He's okay, I just like his hair." *blushes*
*laughs* "Sorry, but I got a mental image of yo patting him on the head..."
*laughter followed by an awkward silence*
*Super geek just realizes that he's been fangirling & geek rushes to reassure him it's okay & that it was kinda cute*
Or something like that. ;p
Gammer Dude as an adult should know better than to bash other peeps' interests. I think it's good you stop by to see how things are & talk to him if need be.

Date: 2015-09-10 08:13 pm (UTC)Yes, you could easily walk from the hotel to Lake Colby, and no, the ruins of the Colby house aren't in a line to the lake from there. You only hit the park along the way if you start from the Lodge. Otherwise it's a detour. The trails and covered picnic areas in the park are nice, though. Parking and access to the new park are probably in the Lake Colby boat ramp area. I wouldn't worry about it--if your guys have already parked somewhere, they can leave the car(s) and walk anywhere you want them to go.

Date: 2015-09-10 08:36 pm (UTC)Thanks. I just couldn't remember and usually of course Sharon and I would leave from the lodge. I can have Ryan park at Harmony Hall where he lives and they can walk one way and back the other.
very helpful!

Use google maps. On street view, they’re brilliant – you can walk along virtual locations and get visuals on everything.

Date: 2015-09-11 09:35 pm (UTC)Tried it. No Google coverage. You can't find ANYTHING in my area on google. That's a half truth, if you put my address in you CAN see my apartment as of last year. The UK has MUCH better coverage than the states, especially our rural part. I can see Cassadaga on Google and where the park is but NOT inside Colby Park sadly but silvrethorn filled me in. She still lives in FL and it's been 11 years since I've lived there
