I was just thinking this morning that I am a hard person to sleep next to. I wake up every 2 hours, 4 if I'm lucky. And then today I find out my friend who took me to my surgery (and was one of the ones who forgot me when Neil Gaiman was here) has a compression fracture of her spine. I'm not sure how it happened or why they didn't put her in a rehab hospital for a week (probably our shit insurance) but she needs help. They asked me to sleep there on Sunday.
Luckily they asked me when I was gone all day and didn't get back to them. Instead one of our mutual friends will do it and I'll do the day shift on monday. I don't mind helping at all but no one should have to deal with me sleeping over.
Speaking of sleep I had two weird dreams last night. One I was driving along an abandoned railroad track in Midway PA with my friend DWS and it led into a very old cemetery that we got out to explore. There were plenty of these old slate tombstones and somehow I got off track and was driving over the graves. I remember saying I just need to go this way and I'll be out of here but the landscape changed and I couldn't. We got out of the car and walked to this gazebo. The whole place was deserted but then this gazebo led into a Haunted House (the scripted kind) attached to it.
In the second dream I was at my uncle's house in Bulger with ELD trying to explain to her her life as a shapeshifter and that her form was something completely lame (we kept emphasizing this but I can't remember what it was) and there were three other guys there to welcome her into the life (I don't remember my shape either but it was something cool that everyone wanted, naturally) and one of the guys looked like Sam from Supernatural and his shape was a sheep. We were outside in the gravel driveway then inside but the dining room had her old furniture in it and not the new stuff that's there now. WTH brain?
Someone got me started on keeping the high points during the year. Someone on my fb this year had a different twist on it:put in one good thing a week. Honestly, I know I wouldn't keep up on that but here's what I put in for 2015 in no particular order
The first editor loved Soldiers of the Sun
Grandma's funeral had no drama
Wayward Ink accepted A Wolf in the Fold in their Of Heaven & Hell anthology
Of Heaven & Hell has a book trailer
Rathacon was fun
In spite of a huge pay cut I still have a job
Of Heaven & Hell was published
Snowbound will be rereleased
Tsubasacon had some fun goodies to be had
The Nelsonville Steampunk train ride was fun
I recovered my garden
The Huntington Hot Dog fest was fun
I got great stuff at the Lily fest
I was published in Queer Sci-Fi's anthology
I got some beautiful jewelry at the Renn Fest
The steampunk ball was fun
Snowbound has a lovely cover.
The paw paw festival was worth the admission
No mothmen were hurt in the Mothman festival
I went to San Antonio and saw the Alamo
Soldiers of the Sun has a great cover
Snowbound is getting cover art
I don't need hip surgery
San Antonio has great ghost tours
The first snow of the year is pretty
I finished Blood Red Roulette
I took part in a blog hop celebrating the SCOTUS gay marriage decision
I 'won' nano.

Date: 2016-01-17 03:21 pm (UTC)well you can't trust the men in black after all. (as far as I know the 'real' mothman has never put in an appearance at his festival and the cosplayers all seem to have a good time.)

Speaking of which, when IS your spring break? Because that'd be fun, if we could all go together.

Hmmm, that was originally my thought time period for going. Hmmm.
