My Co-worker and I were so happy to hear we have live specimens in the mail today because we thought Carolina sent us our missing bacteria. Nope, glass separators. Um Carolina, glass is NOT alive. Sigh. Where is our bacteria? We needed it last week. Gah.

Sad news at work, another friend is leaving to take a new job but I can't blame her.

Other than that a slow boring day but I did mostly want to say I really enjoyed the premiere of Agent Carter with a few niggling points.

High points: 1. Peggy of course. I love her.

2. the villain/science is interesting

3. I found the doctor interesting (but not enough to remember his name but I was trying to do my critique group stuff at the same time)

4. I'm in love with the Jarvises. OMG they steal the show (and he's cute. Yum!)

Lower points 1. Sousa dating someone else. I HATE the will they/won't they bullshit TV loves to give us, sometimes for YEARS. It's just drama that adds nothing to the show for me. Yes I'm a Sousa/Peggy shipper but even if I weren't this would annoy the shit out of me.

2. That little smirk exchanged by the detective and Sousa when the doctor was flirting with Peggy because honestly for that time period, it didn't ring true. I mean the detective is prejudiced enough to assume the physicist was the janitor because he's Black. I'm thinking he would not approve of the man hitting on a White woman. I guess it is good to know that Sousa isn't prejudiced but I can't see him being amused that anyone would be hitting on Peggy.

3. Don't get me wrong, I didn't want to see 2 hours of racism but it didn't feel like they were treating it real to the times until about the last half hour of the show when he referanced being unable to find work as a scientist and when the guy wouldn't let them have change without buying something. I'm pretty surprised he didn't run them out of the store. 50 years past this I've been run out of restaurants for being with someone of a different race (thank you South Dakota and your Native American prejudices). I guess it just seemed a little too easy with him. I do wonder though if he also survived, changed like the woman because that's bound to be interesting.

I thought they were too easy on the racism too. It just didn't feel realistic for the time period that there weren't more raised eyebrows and objections.

I also loved Dotty flirting with Peggy.

Yeah that was my reaction. I'm glad that I'm not alone in finding that a bit unrealistic. It's always a tightrope with historical fiction

Yes Dotty's flirting was fun.
