Not much to say since I've done almost no writing this week, barely any editing or even thinking about it in spite of being snowed in. My mojo has gone a little flat. I think having no internet was the best thing for me as I'm failing to wean myself away from my online addiction. I can piss away hours and it's beginning to really concern me. i'm going to have to start regimenting my time. I've done it before. I need to begin again or nothing will get cleaned or written.

Right now the new The X-Files is on (why in the name of god did they put it on after a damn play off game? SIgh) and it got me thinking about why we write. Of course telling our stories is a huge part of it. But if we're honest, most of us want to write something that passes into the cultural memory.

Who wouldn't want to write the next Harry Potter, Star Trek, X-Files, Buffy the Vampire SLayer, Star Wars ? Hell I'd take writing the next Twilight.

Most authors will never achieve anything like that. Even published authors who publish yearly will ever get to be that famous. Most will be in the midlist their whole career and that is not a bad place to be.

But who doesn't dream of being the top? Who wouldn't dream of having a theme song that sends a tingle down their fans spine every time they hear it, no matter how long it's been since they first heard it? To dream of their books being reread time and again, their characters like old friends to their readers?

I dream.

Seriously, anything can be a time waster. This whole PruHun week thing, while fun, was a time waster. I should have been writing a GerIta pinch hit fic. But the prompt I can do is very similar to a fic I wrote ages ago. It's a been there, done that kinda a thing & I was looking for a distraction & found it. Now I need to get cracking on it when I get home from work. *sighs*

As for being "loved" as an author. I've never been a big name with a ton of reviews, so, while it's nice, I know it'll never happen for me. Barely anyone reads what I've written here, so... *shrugs* I just write to amuse myself. You are lucky enough to be published & while, yeah I understand that kind of love equals sales, I'm not sure what to tell you. I'm sure you do have your fans. They're just not very vocal. ^^; But I for one love your work. :D

Yeah I know how it is to have a fic challenge prompt be too similar to things you've done before. Good luck with it at any rate.

I'm not so much complaining that I'm not J.K. Rowling famous. Let's face it, that's not going to happen for about 90% of the authors out there but man, wouldn't it be nice?

Yeah... But at least I started it again. XD I think it'll work this time. Writing 2 different incidents for PruHun week that was very similar, help get me unstuck here.

Yeah... *sighs* I'm not even someone like that when it comes to fan ficcage. But it would be awesome for anyone who writes! :D

To be honest, yes, I guess I've wondered what it would be like to write something that would turn people's heads, merit a theme song, etc., then I wake in a cold sweat and wonder if I would really want that.

You are on that path and have been for a while now, and I both salute you and cheer you on. You've had sales. You have fans. It's a beginning. (sends good vibes your way) Keep going! Don't let the internet bring you down.

Certainly doing very well can be stressful. Doyle proved that going to the extremes of killing of Sherlock so he could try something else.

I do and right after that is lucifer which I'm going to skip because the Magican thing on SyFy is 9-11 and NOT repeating in order at all this week
