Now I'm a little worried
May. 31st, 2016 11:38 pmBut before that, happy birthday
dzioo. Hope it's a great day.
I was talking to the other authors for what? Three days? Definitely sounds like I'll have to write contemporary to make any money but that's not the worrying thing. Either I do it or I don't.
No, the weird west thing isn't as sure of a bet as it sounded, just like I feared. For some reason there are EIGHTEEN authors. I'm not exactly sure why she asked so many of us, maybe figuring most of us wouldn't do it (a lot like airlines overbooking a flight). And a lot of us have LONG stories.
So now I'm afraid I won't get in. It's not the end of the world. I kept the longer version. I could sell it as a novella. But I would like to publish SOMETHING this year.
I got all my books from Fountain books, signed with Maggie Stiefvater's book plates. yay.
I also got my bootie via Thinkgeek and
silvrethorn's christmas gift card (finally used 5 months later). I'll share what I got tomorrow because today I got up too early thanks to my muse kicking my ass, refusing sleep and then not doing anything.
I AM considering a contemporary, well two. I have that short story set in Wales. Wonders if I could kick it up another 40K? It wasn't that interesting (because it's contemp!) And the other is set at a con. The stupid Harlequin knock offs sell like hotcakes (not surprising) but can I do a 50-60K fluffy bunny? I was thinking setting it at Vegas's con (because I know the city) and finishing it in Columbus (where both men live) because I know city and con. But Boston could work. Or if anyone has a con/city they want to suggest (not the con I was just at mostly because Raleigh bores me).
I'm starting up my SF short story again. It'll need a beta.
