I said screw it and went shopping. It's still none of the travel I had wanted to do this summer but it was to a WV mall for a restaurant that mom wanted me to try (which was good). There is a big Books a Million there but as big as it was, the manga selection was much smaller than it was in Huntington. On the other hand they had cool 3-D metal model kits. I got an Enterprise for Dad for Christmas.

I was annoyed with Lane Bryant. A shop dedicated to plus sizes should not have clothing that runs small. Let's put it this way, my 24s from Macy are falling off but the 26/28s at Lane's barely fit. I did get another pair of pretty shorts though.

And then I come home to see another round of barbarism in France. Sigh.

And on another, better note, happy birthday to [livejournal.com profile] ozma914, [livejournal.com profile] lejlkwiet & a belated birthday to [livejournal.com profile] mjules. Hope your day was good.

Oh, you don't want to do that (re: subject line)' I met an original Hell's Granny once - well I say Granny, but back when West Germany didn't exist and the Korean 'Police Action' hadn't happened yet, she had her own bike; leathers and NO helmet and road with a biker gang, such as they existed in the UK anyway. She was in her seventies when I met her at a bus stop and enjoyed a long conversation whilst waiting for our Jalopy. She gave my late teen self a valuable piece of advice.

"Life's too short to rush."

Her only regret? That her eyesight was no longer good enough to be able to ride a motorbike.

She sounds a lot like a patient I had once. She was 103 and went dancing at the VFW every friday and had two beers and a burger (but only two, she was very adamant about that.)

She rode bikes until nearly 90.

When I lived in South Dakota I would go to Deadwood and there was another 100+ woman who made her own dresses and danced with all the cowboys (and sometimes, talking to her, I wondered if she hadn't owned a brothel there way back in the day. She would have almost been old enough)
