If I had quit 10 minutes earlier
Jul. 27th, 2016 11:46 pmIt would have been better. Ah well. I played for an hour on house money at the casino and only lost 20 by the end of nearly 3 hours. That's pretty damn amazing to be honest. I hit a few little jackpots that kept me going. And I had a slice of roasted cauliflower garlic/bacon pizza that was very yummy.
I got my edits on Corpse Powder but they got here so late I didn't do more than download them because if they're bad I'll be depressed right before bed. However, the editor who is a fan of mine (or at least is super encouraging in emails) said it was a nice story. I'll tackle it tomorrow.
I am vaguely annoyed by a couple of people on Jana's fb, mostly because they strike me as unprofessional. They tell you not to be negative on your social media as an author and that makes sense. Lately there are a couple who keep whining about quitting the business. One was really whining today and it amused me slightly that two or three people chimed in with yeah we got our royalty quarterly statement today too and left it at that (as if to make it clear they knew why there was this public angst exhibition and weren't playing along).
Yes, i whine occasionally (or more than occasionally) to you all but this is separate from my author persona and there is what about a dozen of you now? I don't do it on Jana's pages at all and I could. My royalties will barely buy me dinner (and wouldn't at red lobster). Am I disappointed? Sure. But I think in many ways I'm looking at this differently and trying to look at it even more differently, like a hobby I get paid for. I write what I like and hope at least a few people will like it too.
Managed to get an infected needle track from my insulin. Bah and Invokana gives you yeast infections. This one is the worst I've ever had. Took my pill for that but no change. If no change in a day or two I'll go in because it could be bacteria and I'm leaving in a week so I don't want this pestering me.

Date: 2016-07-29 02:03 am (UTC)Hope your edits are good! :D
Sorry about the whinos on Jana's FB. I like your attitude towards royalties too. I have a part time job where I pretty much make $24 a month when things are slow and nearly double when they have more work for me. I basically treat it like gas money. If I didn't it would be more of chore than it is, since I'm basically going to the PO & picking up mail for this Jewish organization. XD
Sorry about the infection! I hope it's not too serious! *huggles*

Date: 2016-07-29 02:07 am (UTC)The edits are very good so I'm happy.
Same here, some times you do things for the love of it and not the money. I definitely have no expectations of getting rich doing m/m romance

Exactly! It would be nice if everything we loved doing made us rich money-wise, but sometimes it makes us richer in ways we never expected. :D

Date: 2016-07-30 02:10 am (UTC)I'm a technical writer, I only just started publishing my M/M fanfics, and I don't expect to make any money on it, either. But we do what we do.

Date: 2016-08-01 02:32 am (UTC)This was more along the lines of nobody likes me, everybody hates me, guess I'll go eat worms.
My last failure, and that novel WAS sadly a failure, I dissected it, publically in some cases, to figure out why it failed. Yes I whined too but on my private site.
And thanks
