pleasant surprise

cornerofmadnessWe were contacted by a former student who offered to tutor our students for the MCATS (for free). He's now in Pitt's med school (his dad and I went to the same medical school). But the big surprise is he got perfect MCAT scores in two of the four subjects and 99% in the other two. That is mind blowing. I knew he was brilliant but damn! He thanked us for helping him achieve this. I feel pretty good about that.
I'm vaguely queasy so I haven't written anything today :( BUT I have been plotting in my foggy head. I know I have one or two of you out there know a bit of Japanese. You might be able to help. I'm reading a newish manga called QQ Sweeper and what I think that's in reference to is a character Kyutaro whom they sometimes call Q. I assuming that kyu must sound like Q. Does anyone know? I thought that would make for a fun name for the character in my contemporary con-based romance. He's half Japanese, born there to a military mom but raised here so I doubt he'd have any culturally issues with the nickname. If nothing else it would also set me up for some fun title possibilities as the other character's last name is Quirke.
Oh and the character was inspired by this cosplayer (seriously if you like cosplay check him out)
And with the nights getting cooler I'm FINALLY sleeping again.
I finally solved my fake cigarette problem for this weekend's cosplay. I found an unsmoked cigarette in the hall squashed flat. I fluffed it out, wrapped it in tape so it'll hold up (and to isolate me from whatever might have touched it) and I'm good to go.
Day 28 - 0 words because I suck and because I think I might go throw up now.
