World Teacher's Day

I didn't know it until I came home. No one else seemed to either. Ah well. Maybe I AM that one professor a student will remember.

I'm trying my best not to remember this day. It's been a very painful arthritis/fibro day and then I fell over the imprinted tile at work and sprained my ankle and wrenched my bad hip.

Then my chair, the math prof EB BEGGED me to go with her to the trustee dinner tomorrow. I'd rather be in a pool filled with spiders. So naturally I said yes. EB owes me


So you know my insurance woes with the lady with the same name in Galveston being billed on MY insurance. On monday I found FOUR more so I tagged them and sent an inquiry saying they weren't mine. I ended up with FOUR phone calls assuring me that indeed my name was one them so they're mine. I called up and went off like the H-Bomb. NO ONE is looking at the mother fucking Social Security. Because, I'm told, it's not put on this information for my safety. I told him (the customer service rep) I've already spoken to Texas but they're still doing it. He called them and they told him they couldn't help him. Special. I'll call them on friday and tell them that since they've been told about the problem, admitted there was a problem that their continuing to bill MY insurance is fraud and I'm reporting them.

So I try to forget it with a Smuttynose Blueberry short weisse. Yes Wiesse beers are sour but this tasted like fruity vinegar or heat spoiled wine. I couldn't drink it and I love sour. It was turning my stomach so I went and drank moonshine instead.


I haven't been writing tonight. I'm working on my character names for my nano. See what you think (Tenaldi's name is now Malas) if you dont' like them tell me why. What I did was take the latin names of poisonous plants and created the names. Now I couldn't make them true anagrams because it was too hard or too long or just dumb sounding.

Also I was thinking of adding a priest/healer but that might be one character too many (since the villains aren't on the list) maybe the older prince can be that instead. Thoughts?

Camristy – the warrior goddess' chosen boy
Malas - Poison gardener
Neriam – she's a wall warrior
Solan – shares lead pov with Malas, warrior -mage
Atura - queen

Reca -young foreign princess

I like most of your names, except for two. Persic, just sounds too much like Percy & it doesn't call to mind a great warrior-mage. Camristy just sounds too much like chemistry. XD I prefer names that are kind of easy to say. The weirder the spelling/harder to say turns me off. But they are your babies, so name them whatever you like & don't mind me. XD

The names sound great, and I almost recognize the roots of several of them. My only concern is that Malas and Solan sound enough alike that readers might find it hard to remember which is which. In fact, Malas is almost Solan spelled backward, and they're both soft, sibilant, two-syllable names. This wouldn't actually bother me if these two weren't the main POV characters, but since they're so front and center, it might be better to have more dissimilar names to set them apart. Something to consider, anyway.

Originally Solan's name was also with a C and I realized oops, I have 3 C names. I'll look at that.
