February's off to a weird start

It's going to be in the mid-30's all week. So what's weird about that? In this part of the world it never gets that warm. Snow is melting. This is bad for two reasons a) we depend on snowmobile tourism here b) it goes well below freezing at night leaving us with lakes of ice. Whee ha. Let me go to the sporting goods store for some ice climbing gear for my shoes and use that axey thing for a cane. Oh, who envisions me sliding to my death out there? Yes, I thought so.

I did get that first chapter to Kristi's ficathon done. got two potential beta's lined up. Word of warning ladies, this is NOT a happy or pretty tale. Anyone else want in on some heavy Post Not Fade Away angst? Oh and even though I set the rules and this is MY story written for ME, I apparantly can't follow the rules and my Angel/Connor father/son story is starting off with the females of the story taking the lead while ANgel and Connor act like jerks and talk in monosyllables.

Got my resume updated and went to look at the new jobs...and felt a wave of anxiety that was amazingly crippling. The idea of actually really working full time of course is depressing. The money is not. My problem is trying to find the right place. My alma mater is hiring (and I know this job, this was the job of the person who was the head of the department.) My problems a) genetics (okay I did just take conservation genetics but the last time I took general genetics was in 88) b) biochemistry (yeah I've taken it three times and got high marks but I despise it). Not sure if I'll even bother. I doubt they'll hire me because they want one person to teach genetics, cell, micro, biochem and something else (and I'm just not sure I WANT to teach at a religious school. the school wasn't that bad when I was there but now not only is it uber-christian the whole town is. I was highly highly uncomfortable there the last time. Emmanuel Car sales. Blood of Christ (or something similar) Florist. It spooked me. I've never seen anything like it.

Well, at any rate, jumping back in and all, the thing I have to hope for is to get hired NOW for the fall giving me time to actually get classes ready. My nightmare would be to get accepted and have like two weeks to try and prepare for four separate classes.

MUST call my letter of recommendation friends and get an updated letter from all of them and the realization occurs, that because I have ONE phone line, I'll have to be off line all day in order that someone can actually call me. Sigh.

My House is Possessed oh and Vegas

Okay I've got all but two windows covered in plastic. It's warmer today than ever before. My house was almost at 70 degrees before I got the plastic up. Now that it's like living inside a ziploc bag, the temp in here PLUMMETED to  60 degrees even though no one touched the thermostat, that it's still warm relatively speaking outside and now there's insulating plastic keeping out the drafts. Possession is all I have left to explain this. I've been tempted to tape the furnace noises for the owner of Blue here but I'm half terrified of what might be caught as EVP.

And I've got Kristi's story done and since evil_little_dog got it editted (thanks) on the same day of Kristi's return from Sin City, it seemed like a perfect time to post it. So here you go, the final chapter of Just a Devil with Love to Spare. Enjoy
