Dear Body,

It’s bad enough you’re reacting badly to the insulin. There is ABSOLUTELY no need to burst a blood vessel every time I take my sugar. I have to do this 5 times a day. Soon I’ll have no place left to test and I’ll be covered with hematomas. It looks like I have purple slugs living under my skin.
No Love
Me

Hit the casino last night. Lost almost everything then came home fifty bucks up. Had to buy my brother a consolation loser ice cream cone.

Bought more manga yesterday, including some yaoi and more Shojo. I have a shameful amount of Shojo, as Mjules pointed out. Yes…and no. My shojo has very strict requirements. The girlie-girls must be absent. Almost every one has a supernatural aspect and that has to be far more important than any love story that might exist. In fact, no love story at all, like Godchild would be best.

So I really don’t get all that much Shojo since romances make up what, 75% of the genre and the other 25% is barely disguised yaoi and shonen-nei, like the above mentioned Godchild (which gives us not only the homoerotic subtext but incest subtext as well). I have similar problems with yaoi since most of those boys’ love stories are plotless and exist only for improbably romances. Don’t care for love at first sight stories, regardless of the genders involved (and find them even more ridiculous when straight characters spontaneously switch sexual orientation at a glance as in a large chunk of yaoi).

At least the yaoi I bought had a modicum of plot, sort of…almost. The shojo…I’ve been seeing these characters since the 1980’s with Cityhunter Ryo and while I like them I still 20 years later hate the draw them in silly chibi styles to illustrate fights and other embarrassing moments.
