Had to get up at 6 AM to get to a physiology workshop in Columbus. Nothing like getting up hours before my usual time to drive in the pre dawn in a downpour. I made it there. Capital Uni is very pretty. I sometimes forget how very nice Bexley (one of the towns Columbus swallowed) is. Large homes and brownstones, dating back to the 1800's, very Gothic and some downright creepy. I love them. The weird part is two blocks either direction in some parts you're in rich town and two blocks the other you're in a slum.
Naturally the printed map was useless so i had to slog around in a vicious rain storm. I had on my rain coat and my umbrella and even so my shirt was wet and from my knees down (uncovered by the coat) my slacks were stuck to my skin. I looked like I fell in a lake.
I got in there and the workshop is really good. The software is SO userfriendly and the support is great. Problem for me, we're not sure if my predecessor bought this software or some other company (there's confusion on that point) That said I hope he did. I WANT to use it. SOmewhere we have nearly 30 grand in equipment rotting because no one told me we had it and no one wants to okay me using it because that means creating a new lab class.
So since I'm in COlumbus its shopping time...I almost go to the mall then realize why? There's nothing there I need so i go to Steinmart only to find the only two shirts i want are the only ones NOT on 85% sale. I leave and it's now SLEETING badly. Well hell. I abandoned dinner plans since that restaurant is Uber slow and I don't relish driving 100 miles in the dark in the sleet.
I hit trader joe's (can't wait to try the goat cheese with honey). Then went to the mongolian BBQ which is fast but the cute little waitress talked me into a dessert (since I guess they get bonuses for that and I know how little they make). Wrong move (sugar = sleepy). I hit the Borders and only buy two manga (gotta save something for my brother to buy me for the holiday), Wild Adapter #6 and D. Gray-man #11 since i didn't want to wait. Got their peppermint mocha trio (another sugary mistake). delicious and pretty, lots of chocolate, whipped cream, DARK chocolate drizzle and sparkling red peppermint crushed bits)
Got to drive home half blind in the rain, dark, uber bright headlights and fog. Go me. Accidentas EVERYWHERE. No close calls for me.
Now back to nanoing. No rest for the ridiculously tired.
oh and the salesclerk at Borders squeeed at my manga (she's never seen those ones) and proceeded to tell me how much the Deathnote live action movie is and how hot L was.
