I had planned on using my day off for President's day to go have fun. It's a cold downpour so I said screw it.

Mom suggested going up to Wellston to see those houses (she's not going to let up until I say yes anyhow). I figured okay that's not that far and I forgot to get something at Walmart.

i think i was so tired yesterday because i'm getting ill

I'm mildly feverish now. sigh. At least i got my case studies graded. I think the nurses had fun with those.

I went traveling in the rain killing time before going to pick up the cats. There will be lots of pictures. Oh this place is just so WEIRD. Truly.

However, as it turned out I didn't pick up the cats. She wanted to keep them. You know I would have appreciated being told this straight off (I think the vet was out at the farms and the staff tried to second guess her). So I won't know anything til tomorrow.

I'm regretting putting thyme in my blackberry puree for tonight's steak (I'm regretting the steak too since apparently anything non-mushy or carb related wants to digest). It would have made a great topping for that chocolate pasta i have. Hmmm I might siphon off a bit of the extra, sweeten it and see if the thyme really tastes off. whee kitchen alchemy.

speaking of alchemy, I'm reading a historical mystery by SJ Parris called Heresy and it's irritating me, in the right ways. It's well written but it's set in the late 1500's when the protestant and catholic hatred and torture were in full swing so it fires me up. Our hero is Giordana Bruno (he was a real man so I need to research on my own to see how much of this is true), a man with an interest in the writings of Hermes Trismegistus, one of the first alchemists and potentially the Eygptian god Thoth.

Anyhow, there is a great passage in it. He's trying to shield the rector of Oxford's daughter from a fresh murder. She replies 'How is it that men think women are too frail to look on blood? Do you forget we bleed every month? We push out babies in great pudles of gore, do you imagine we hide our eyes when we do that, in case if offends of delicate senses? I promise you, Doctor Bruno, any woman can look on blood with more fortitude than a soldier." I think I'm going to love this woman.
