cornerofmadness: (ice)
An ice storm is on the way. I love winter. I love snow. I'm pretty sure no one loves ice. I love the way it looks on the trees, I want to go to an ice hotel but that's about where it ends.

My worries stem more from my experience in the last major ice storm where I was without power for 6 days and my well meaning but not entirely bright landlord brought me a space heater, assuring me it was safe. Had I not cracked a window I wouldn't be alive now.

That's my thought for house hunting. does it have a fire place? I wouldn't worry if I had a fire place. I'd burn the house down I'd feel much safer with one.

I do have stuff to grade and countless books. I could stay in bed for a day or two provided it doesn't get too cold since there is you know, NO heat in my place if I lose power.

I DID find the lighter (under the futon), going out drinking in a bit (because I'm only a TAD worried) when I get home I'll get the candles in place and dig out the heavy sheets. Maybe I'll get lucky and it'll pass over me. I'd like to be able to go to Jackson tomorrow...

even thought I DO NOT go to the anime con in Columbus in Jan mostly because the weather blows, I wanted to go this time to see the FMA movie even though it looks like a cracktastic piece of shit. But while they're lightening up on warnings here not so much there. I think I'll pass and you know catch up on all the work i'm behind on thanks to my tenure portfolio.

Did go out for wine and dinner with my friends (if you call Bob Evans dinner and I don't). HD assured me that the sushi at the Bamboo Garden in Jackson is excellent. I might get a take out of some if it doesn't ice up and I can actually get to Jackson tomorrow.

Interestingly enough I bought two erotic novels from my publisher when they offered up half off over the holidays. The paperbacks are obviously more than ebooks but ebooks give me such headaches reading. One (The Thirteenth Child) is urban fantasy and not unlike something I'd write (and pretty much convinced me that if I finished a novel they'd publish it). The other (Ink) is a vampire one and while it's omniscent pov which puts some people off, I'm only a chapter into it (while waiting on my work computer to fuck itself for a while) and the description is the type of stuff I WISH I wrote.

Speaking of my car, it'll be 640$ to fix. That's just pounding out one dent and painting a couple of small scratches. Dad is right about s omething...it probably IS worth keeping the car clean and polished. New paint is practically the price of a used car.

My friend L has a play coming up in a few weeks that I'd like to go to if I can afford it but I REALLY want to go to the ghost hunt at the French Art colony (same place as the play) with her and Joe who's the director (the guy who runs the haunted house I do every year). It's 20$ which normally isn't an issue but I need 100$ to do the exercise thing.

Speaking of which, they wanted me to come in tomorrow. Yes I know it doesn't bode well but i did say NO to coming in on saturday. I have one freaking class monday. We can do it then.

And they moved my damn interview to the 31st. I knew it. I knew i f I canceled my doctor's apt that would happen. Head desk.

I used one of these in a Buffy story once. I want to use them again. Or have fictional ones because that would be even cooler. Check out the Ossuaries I want to go to these because I am just that messed up

I'm also very sad Etta James died. I loved her music
