cornerofmadness: (winter)
Just before noon as I'm talking to the organic chem prof, another chem prof runs is and says there's a bit of an emergency in lab. We run in and the moronic architecture has come back to haunt us. Whoever low-bid the building of this place poorly insulated the roof AND put the coolant for the HVAC/Heating system in pipes right by that roof. The pipes had burst, showering down fuschia water (that perfectly matched my sweater). We ran in and started pulling things out of the flood zone. Called maintenance twice (first time they were ate lunch and didn't want bothered until we said it's not water it's a CHEMICAL leak). So naturally we have basically antifreeze all over our cuffs and shoes and head and shoulders.

I go on to class and putter in my lab. three hours later, the secretary runs and gets me. ANOTHER pipe burst. Ceiling tiles everywhere, the gen-chem lab is a wreck. We decide it's going to be colder still this weekend so we plastic wrap every computer and piece of equipment we can which takes a lot longer so my throat was sore and my lips burning from exposure to what is probably ethylene glycol.

And another blog post by me on the world of Kept Tears, all steampunk clothing and music. Enjoy. Find it Here

I hit something in my bad shoulder and my whole arm is numb. Just touching my shoulderblade to the chair hurts. tonight will be fun sleeping

The black Momma cat returned much to my distress this afternoon. I really did think they had relocated/killed her and her babies. It is SO cold out there but she looks too sick to bring in (I have no way of separating her from Kanda). I did get her food by pouring half Kanda's bowl into a plastic one. You should have SEEN his face. He kept double taking. You stole my food? Why? MY FOOD!!! (as if he couldn't live off his fat for days). She was gone again when I returned from Jackson. I ran up to get more food before the snow comes. I have SO. MUCH. FOOD. Must stop hoarding it. The poor cashier had no idea what anything was? Parsnips, kale, brussel sprouts, cilantro. At least he got the broccoli right.

I'll be back later with more fun stuff but I wanted to get this rolling.

On Monday I have a release party for my novel on Dreamspinner's blog. Here are some suggested things to talk about (I'll cannibalize other blog posts I've written for this): Readers want to know "behind the scenes" stuff. What inspired you? What did you listen to when you wrote? How did you get the idea for the book? Is there a special story associated with it? Did something unusual or funny happen while you were writing it and influence the book? What are you working on now?

My question to you all is, what ELSE would you like to ask an author about their work if you had the chance? It would help me prepare and to make my launch as good as can be. THANKS.

I have many reasons to do the dance of joy and not this one:

No, because I find it utterly stupid to have dance in a world with no music, no my dance of joy looks more like this (after all I can dance a little)

So why am I doing the dance of joy? Oh, it could be because it snowed gobs and I'm very happy about that. (Less happy about the wind storm that sounded like someone walking in my living room at 4 AM).

No this happy dance is curtsey of [livejournal.com profile] seta_suzume and the fact she drew Aaron and Rhys from my upcoming release for me. How wonderful is that? Check it out here along with more of her adorable work. The Royai one is just so sweet too. Thank you so very much, Seta_suzume, you made my weekend.

Thanks also to those responding to my earlier post. That is very helpful. I hope at least some of you can be at my release party on facebook (not sure when that will be) or my take over of DSP's blog (I'll link it tomorrow) on monday. I am willing to trade a couple ebooks for reviews. If interested, let me know. If you want to share the buy links to friends who like m/m stuff, I would love you forever (I'll share those again tomorrow).

While [livejournal.com profile] evil_little_dog's prodding I took a page out of [livejournal.com profile] sonjajade's book and started a 'good things' jar where you write down all the good of the year. I even had a jar just for that my friend gave me....only I don't (I suspect I got rid of it) so I emptied my Ashes of Past Lover's jar of all its coins while talking to Mom. I sifted thru the coins (having learned I can take them to the bank without my bank taking 15% off the top) and I found a token for house on the rock. Mom's like....DANA, when was the last time you were in the House? Me - um I left Madison in Dec 2000. So for FOURTEEN years you've been wandering around with this token? Have you never gone thru your change? I have...I think. I'm keeping it for prosperity. I'll put it in my jewelry box now. Yeah, seriously there probably isn't a coin in there later than 2000. Oopps. Okay you already knew I'm a hoarder. Now I'm a hoarder with a good things jar.
