I'm an idiot
Jan. 19th, 2015 10:20 pmToday I had my yearly eye exam. I got my contact case ready and my glasses then somewhere between the bathroom and my purse I got distracted and LEFT THEM. I couldn't have my eyes dilated and now I have to go back next friday. This is important to diabetics to have it done. My allergies didn't improve with the new solution much. He didn't have much good news for me anyhow but he didn't tell me anything I didn't know. I can't see distance well with my contacts at all right now but I CAN with my glasses. Two reasons for this: 1. the astigmatism in my right eye has gotten greatly worse and he wants to try astigmatic contacts in that eye (joy, they're harder to wear and with my allergies I'm betting I won't like them. They're also quicker to ulcerate a cornea and I'm prone to that as is) and 2. the left eye was under corrected so I don't need reading glasses, under corrected by a lot. we decided to half that under correction. Gah. (In more humorous news I had my Athens Asylum t-shirt on and he was telling me about how the insane asylum was his view out his dorm room window back in the day.
The head of my local writing group put this up at our site and I decided to do it. 12 day writing challenge
So in lieu of a writerly sunday (sorry but the last two sundays have sucked and you all know why) have my opening salvo
Day 1: Write 10 potential book titles of books you’d like to write. Well I'm not sure I want to write these all but here they are.
1. Centralia Still Burns (yes ELD this is where I got the one I foisted on you).
2. The Haunting of Hocking Hills
3. Moth Man Murders
4. A Man Called Wisdom
5. Shatter Me
6. Drops of Emptiness
7. The Long Drive Home.
8. Straight, No Chaser
9. Roses with Jeweled Centers
10. Italian at the End
I thought we all could use this for our novels. A Promotional plan
Speaking of writing I'm FINALLY getting off my duff and posting my fanfic around after 2 years of almost not doing it at all.

fireun Hope it was a good one.
I also wanted to start sharing music more regularly. I'm not sure I will have any witty insights into the songs I share but it will be stuff I like. Maybe make it a Music Monday. For today I bring Darius Rucker. I'm sure someone could make something out of me using him on Martin Luther King Jr day and as proof, read the youtube comments if you want your head to explode (seriously I wish they'd employ the same tech that cut-links all the comments on a lot of news articles nowadays). Darius gets it from both ends. He's an African-American Country music star. He gets it from other African-Americans for doing something so 'White' and from the Caucasians for treading where he doesn't belong. Several people seemed to be losing their minds because he has a white woman in his videos (I believe she's his wife and the kids in the videos are theirs). The comments prove how much further Dr. King's vision has yet to go.
All the political crap aside, I like Darius's music (and for the idiots who are screaming about the 'first and only African-American in Country...um no, you're wrong).
(this one is pretty poignant for anyone whose children are growing up too fast)
And yes there were others before Darius. The wonderful Charley Pride. (Yes, I am going to San Antone)
