A ghost hunting we go
Oct. 29th, 2016 11:39 pmSince my hand hurt far too much to go too far I gave up on free comic book day (again) and used my friend's ghost hunting website as a guide to local hauntings in Wellston. I planned to go find a haunted church, the haunted house of the town's founder and the haunted site of a turn of the century casino/amusement park.
I found the road to the church but turned around. Not only was it a bad dirt road (common here) but there were too many 'trespass at your own risk' hand painted hillbilly signs and shitty cars all around. Ghosts don't scare me. Rednecks occasionally do.
I easily found Wells's house. It was too windy to get any evps not to mention the neighbors' dogs wouldn't shut the hell up but you can find my friend's evps here I did get a few good pictures but nothing interesting haunting wise.

And no I don't know why those two windows are uncovered. If those dogs had STFU for 5 seconds I would have ventured closer. As far as I know you're allowed to because it DOES have a historical sign but they made me uncomfortable.
There was a graveyard at the top of this hill (Ridgewood Cemetery) with very little of interest in it but I did get a few interesting graves

No I don't know what's up with all the cannons (or why every cemetery around here has wagon-narrow roads you can die on) nor do I know what this is about but it is in the cemetery's edge

A creepy whatisit just south of the Wells house
So I drove then to Lake Alma and the abandoned amusement park. Unfortunately I couldn't figure out HOW to get onto the island. There was a bridge but I didn't see a path to it. I did get a few photographs but nothing as cool as what my friend has here I'm going to have to call him and have him and his wife take me here and to the Moonville tunnel.

I did pick up more rocks because I can't stop picking up rocks. Also found fresh water clam shells so maybe this can be somewhere to get interesting things for L's class. Also you can swim in the lake. Who knew??
I also trundled into Hamden to their cemetery. It, like Ridgewood, wasn't interesting from the cemetery art side of life but it had these two (plus two houses surrounded by the cemetery. Hmmmm too bad I can't buy that) Who knew there were hand made wood headstones in these parts.

The scariest thing that happened was all three of my electronic devices drained of energy completely (phone, camera and recorder) so I guess I wasn't entirely alone.
And since it's National Cat Day have an extreme close up
