No April's Fools here
Apr. 1st, 2016 11:19 pmBecause ugh.
Today was long but I got to Huntington and back to see my Doc. It was a beautiful drive. Seas of yellow, pink and purple flowers in the farmers' fields and along the Ohio river. Bright, sunny and warm. Redbuds in bloom, cherries too.
I stopped at Hillbilly’s Hot Dogs
and it was packed. I've never waited nearly 20 minutes to get hot dogs. I got a Harrison and a Mothman. Yum Yum. Did I mention I was going to see my stomach doc, the Viking. No I didn't tell him I scarfed down two fat cheesy, oniony dogs. I did tell him I threw up into my lungs yesterday.
He STILL hasn't gotten my records, 5 months later. He wanted me to see either a general surgeon or a bariatric surgeon because he's not sure which would know better IF I can have the surgery I need to fix my leaky esophagus valve with gastric paresis. The problem with his recommendation (besides assuming I want bariatric surgery on top of it all) is that it involves so much counseling, exercise etc etc. I'm not really looking for that so now I'm not sure what to do. I'll talk to my GP.
I hit the mall. Got my Clinique bonus and a pretty shirt at Macy's. I got some weird new manga at Booksamillion and then hunted down dinner. Barboursville mall is a wasteland of chain restaurants and I'd MUCH rather find local stuff or at least small chains instead of Applebees/Olive garden/Chili's/Bob Evans. I did find Tortilla Factory
and had something called a Molcajetes which was a terrifyingly hot cauldron of cast iron filled with a tomatillo sauce, nopals (cactus paddles) and a huge slice of queso fresco and mine was bay scallops and shrimp with these thick tortillas. I would rather it had been entirely vegetarian because the tomatillo sauce was amazing. It came with a side of black beans and rice. I brought a lot of it home.
The drive home was just as pretty. On my left the hills with the sun setting behind them and glittering off the Ohio. Two story ideas came to me one for the grumpy Christmas open house dealing with an ER doc dragged off to a Santarchy event or a Santa Charity and maybe a guy coming out of an abusive relationship. And I would like to use point pleasant and/or Athens (and I'm already losing the idea for it sadly. I think this every time I go up Rt 2.
Before I left work I transplanted my poor seedlings. They sprouted last weekend and thanks to the pisspoor light in my office are already leggy and sad. I think the oxheart tomatoes will be okay but the Cherokee purples not so much. Want to bet it’s all dead by Monday?
I also managed to finish editing Blood Red Roulette on paper. yay.
