Writerly Ways

Not much to say for this writerly ways other than hug your beta readers. It's getting harder and harder to find them. I see tons of people begging and very few offering.

Even if you get an offer, it's not always a good match and a bad beta reader can be devestating. I've seen people give up writing based on overly harsh or controlling beta readers/writers groups. It's a sad thing.

Or they can be like me and forget they're supposed to be reading for you (seriously if I'm reading for you and I'm slow, POKE ME). I did see one I was beta reading has been accepted (which shocks the hell out of me. I did comment on the first third then the manuscript died with my flash and it's one of those stories that makes me think if they take that but not mine...)

I've seen sites where you put stuff up for comment but I see little commenting being done.

Then you can always pay for it. Not everyone can afford to do that. You might still get someone who doesn't mesh with your style. Not everyone who claims to be an editor really is any good at it. Some really want a ton of money for it. Some are worth every cent you pay from what I've been told.

Two friends are pulling apart Corpse Powder and I couldn't be happier.

As for the rest of the day my hip is sore now because I've been welded to this chair for HOURS finishing exams. Sleeping is going to be hard thanks to that. Also am getting full on sick just in time to present my research this week. Fun times.

A techie friend suggested running something called ADW Cleaner and it seemed to have fixed some of the issues that I was having with the computer (I still think I'll have to do the factory reset) because I can at least get onto LJ without it freezing up.

For National Pet Day I got my ass kicked and a swollen scratched arm because I didn't realize Kanda was THAT soundly asleep. Apparently I scared the hell out of him. He woke up swinging. A LOT.

I spent the entire evening in the damn Urgent Care because I am SICK. WAAA. I have a sinus infection, bilateral serous otitis causing the dizzies and my lungs are filling with fluid. He wanted to give me steroids but I said no because of the diabetes. Antibiotics yes and inhaled steroids which are working. FLonase didn't work well for me in FL but it really did tonight like in a matter of a few minutes. Huzzah. Still smells like roses.

Now if I could only write. I got a little done during the exam I gave today but I am a bit too scattered to do much tonight. Sigh.
