Writerly Ways
Jun. 12th, 2016 11:01 pmWell not really. If you want some, I had this scheduled at Jana's and you can see it here.
Today was my parents' 51st anniversary. Way to go Mom & Dad.
Know what makes life super fun? Nearly catching the place on fire. I had just finished cleaning the stove about an hour before. I put on a pot of water to cook pierogies while I'm busy cleaning the kitchen. Suddenly a huge noise let up and I turn to see the electric stove arcing like mad and the whole thing is on fire. I kill the breaker, yank the pot off not realizing the burner had melted straight through it. Somehow I don't get scalded on my legs or feet as a few gallons of boiling water pump out that hole. I spend the next half hour cleaning the water out of the stove top in the hopes that I'll just have to replace the burner. Nope. It had basically use my pot to complete a circuit and turn itself into a welding arc. The wiring to the stove top was one melted melt. Even the inside of the stove arced, ash everywhere. That is one dead stove. I have no idea how I didn't burn down the kitchen, scald myself or electrocute myself.
The landlord will be looking for a new one as he just sold his two extras because he wanted to rent the storage shed (he should make more of those. Like one per apartment).
Nearly fell in the kitchen after I scrubbed the floor and I swear one of the cherries tasted like cleaning fluid (not that it could have been contaminated but that won't stop my brain from assuming I was poisoned)
I had to run to Bob Evans for dinner and had strawberry crepes because fuck it, today sucked.
Tomorrow, whatever I finish cleaning is where I stopped. I want to go home sometime this year.
Even with the power off to the stove, I'm still worried about it catching on fire...(it's been five hours so what I'm worrying about....)
I did manage to write at least 1000 words, see what avoiding FB does.
ETA - WOO HOO. Way to go Penguins! Stanley cup winners!
