cornerofmadness: (sunset)
One week down with lots of good progress all around. I'm making a couple more tweaks to these posts but this is probably where I'll leave it for how I'm doing things. I'm balancing this between two jobs so I have to make it something I can do easily enough. I know I can't make everyone totally happy but I hope it's at least workable for you.

cornerofmadness: (halloween royai)
So I was going to make torta ricotta e cioccolata for the Halloween party tomorrow but put it in little tort shells instead of a pie shell because it would feed more that way. Then I saw the horrible price on those shells. Said hell no and thought okay I know the phyllo tart shells are much cheaper and would work. When I got over to the freezer section I saw they had those boxes of 30 mini eclairs and 30 cream puffs on sale for 3.99$! So I could get those and feed many more for less. But now, they're in the fridge and I hear them calling me, saying come eat us.

And I've already eaten the limited edition pumpkin spice twinkies I bought. no shame.

Also Kroger's was having the half off sale for the Taste of Italy stuff, 60 cent pasta, 37 cent lady fingers, and all the cheap salami...one of which is missing. I bought 3, I have 2. What is it with me losing food? I went out to the car but the bags were in the trunk this time (so it couldnt' slid up under the seat like last time) nada. Is not happy.

So I've had a few of you want me to return Tenaldi's original name to him. So be it.

Here's my mocked up cover: photo poison-garden cover_zpsfzbmcdxv.jpg

And the vague synopsis:

Tenaldi is a young gardener working in the Queen's garden, her poison garden to be specific. His head is filled with poisonous concoctions and their antidotes. It's a fairly placid life. He'd rather leave the dangerous stuff to his childhood friend, Solan who is a warrior-mage. She can do all the crazy stuff as far as he's concerned.

That is until the day he finds an insane warrior hiding in a passage grave within the vast garden, a warrior who might just be the chosen one of the lady of blood and bone, the great war goddess Anahira. Tenaldi soon finds himself caught up in a plot as the oppressive neighboring kingdom realizes the warrior has resurfaced and that the queen has been hiding his brother's two children, the rightful heirs to the throne.

Things have just gotten dangerous indeed.

But now I have a problem. I originally was picturing a more high fantasy adventure partly to address my tendency toward talky scenes and no action. Now I can't figure out WHY they would take a poison gardener with them on this adventure. I thought maybe Tenaldi was the only one who can keep the insane warrior, Camristi on an even keel.

But maybe I should think more along the lines of a murder mystery within the castle (ala Brother Cadfael, thanks for that ES!)

Thoughts. Yeah in other words I'm crowdsourcing my plot!

I forgot to mention yesterday, one of the reasons I was so frayed was in lab my bad shoulder (worst shoulder? Neither is good) spasmed up in class and still hurts like hell. I'm hoping one of those weakened rotator cuffs didn't break because I have pain to the elbow and up to my temporomandibular joint.

I'm grateful that most of my Floridian and other east coast friends seem to be ok so far.
