But I DID manage to make it to the halfway point on my nano!

SO have another snippet of it.

“What can we do?”

“Sit and wait.” Arria looped an arm around him. Her magic eater peered at him from the top of her head. “Can I do anything to help you I know you have to be hurting. I can’t believe how your father hurt you.”

Zvon looked away, pressing his sore back against the wall of the sleeping bay. It fired pain over all of him from the contact. “He isn’t a bad man when he’s not drinking.” He left you to die. He tried to sell your corpse he reminded himself. That was terrible and true but so was what he had said. He remembered, just barely the times when his mother was alive and his father was nice. They had played in the yard then, in a different house, a better one than the mean thing he had just ran away from.

“He was bad today,” she said, her pretty eyes flat.

Zvon hung his head. “He is too often,” he admitted in a whisper.

I somehow managed to write 1400 words after 11pm last night and made it to the halfway point of my novel. Wanted to write all day today. So far I've done diddly. Sigh but it's not over yet.

How are you all doing?

This meme is SOOOOO me!

One of my coworker friends and I went to hear James Tilis of the Ghosts of Ohio talk at the local library. He spoke for nearly two hours about all the famous cryptos in Ohio. I knew about the grassman (our Big Foot) and the Mothman of course. I had heard about the Loveland Frog but didn't realize it was a couple of cops who had seen it on different days. Whatever it was, it rattled the cop enough to shoot at it and have to file an incident report. I had never heard of South Bay Bessie, Lake Erie's version of Nessie. Nor had I heard of the Defiance werewolf (which I suspect was a bear). I knew about hanger 18 in Wright Patterson AFB but I had no idea that a multi cop car, two state chase after a UFO was read about in the paper by an Ohio native and turned into a little movie called Close Encounters of the Third Kind (Did anyone know Spielberg was original from Ohio?)

Other than that I've been busy pissing away time and not getting nearly anything I need to be doing done. It's not helping that I have the post release blues and am STILL fighting the invasion of the little brown piss ants (but I did manage to inhale too much ant poison and I have no idea how but hours later and I can still taste it).

I keep forgetting to say thank you to [personal profile] seta_suzume for the cute FMA postcard! It made me smile.

I sat back down with Hyperion's Son (because I can't stop fucking with it) and found so many errors in chapter 26 I about wept.

Tonight's snippet She pulled him closer, her arm stronger than he expected. “He can’t do it anymore. I know it has to be scary to leave everything you know but there are worse things.”

Tears pricked his eyes. He couldn’t remember the last time he had simply cried. Was it when Dr. Dobro sawed off his hand? It might have been. His father thought little of tears. His father’s friend Gosti would have mocked him for it, whipped him maybe. Even Gosti’s daughter, Volhe, one of Zvon’s few friends would have laughed like a fiend. “He’s all I have but he isn’t good for me.”

“No.” Arria pressed her lips to his cheek. The Magic Eater hopped off her head onto his, nesting in his hair.

He tried to see it but of course that wasn’t possible. He reached up to touch it. It was soft and it nibbled on his finger a little as if tasting him.

“That’s Ui. He’s friendly.”

“I have no magic.”

“Oh, you have a little at the very least or he wouldn’t be sampling you. It might just be hidden. That happens.” Arria smiled then jumped as something slammed hard on the walls of the train car. Her smile faded, drawing into a sword slash of a grimace. She pulled open the sleeping bay curtain and stepped out. He tried to stop her but she was out of his grasp without problem and he couldn’t move his muscles to go after her. She was braver than him.
