Or ask me for my parents' address. Today after four pm the social worker comes in with terrible news, something he has NEVER seen before. My insurance not only won't let me stay another week they claim they never approved for anything since 3/29. What the actual fuck? He said they were fighting it was a peer to peer challenge (doctor to doctor).
I called them myself and went off like the H bomb (with a few f bombs) so they're claiming NO ONE approved for anything since the 29th as I said above. I said you have to be high or you're lying. I was in the hospital NINE fucking days waiting for this approval. NINE DAYS.
THank god for this blog so I could find the exact date of my return. I came back on the 26th. SO you're telling me I was approved for THREE DAYS. Moreover he said there was no preauthorization set for the surgery on friday OR the home stay after that. I said he had to be wrong. I KNOW the hospital social worker, the nursing home social worker both fought to get me back here.
NO nursing home would ever take a patient on without approval and that he had to be wrong. 'If there was an error there would be a record and there's no record of anything you're saying.' That's when I called him a liar. I said either you're lying sir or this home is. Either way I'm getting a patient advocate lawyer.
Suddenly he finds the surgery approval so at least there's that. All he'll say to the other is 'peer to peer review is the next step in this. I said fine how many doctors do you want to dog pile on it because I have the home doctor, the vascular surgeon, the orthopedic surgeon AND the trauma doctor, want me to send in a request to them to help bury you.
Well to stay you have to make progress and can't live at home. Excuse me sir you just said I was making progress and I can NOT WALK. I will not be allowed to walk until at least MAY. HOW can I go home? There is no where for me to go. Also if you KNOW I'm making progress that's because you got the progress reports from PT yesterday AND from the monday before which was the 29th. Should not THAT been the time to ask about me being discharge. You did not do that. No one can leave without discharge paperwork.
My thought is if the home is right and I was approved so the insurance needs to pay up. If the insurance is right then the home brought me here without approval so sad for them. I'm not paying for this.
I have NO idea what is going to happen. I spoke the social worker. We agree I'm incapable of being anywhere but here but I did tell him if it's not fixed by tomorrow then they should expect me to call my surgeon and tell him about this and for him to admit me to the hospital for a day and I will start this with a different home so if that is approved then you know it is. The insurance is claiming it's illegal to change an approval retroactively. I said assholes this wasn't a readmit it's a NEW admit. Not to mention I meet the requirements for skilled care and I know how many days I'm allowed.
I'm also telling the faculty and HR so when we think on new insurance, let me tell you a story.
On top of this there is the end of semester rush at work and NO ONE knows who wrote for this injectable anticoagulant. It wasn't the vascular and I called ortho, they claim it wasn't them. HOW can we not know who wrote for this. I want it gone. I need to talk to someone.
on top of all this they realized my prescription for pain meds is out and no one bothered to put in to refill.
Gah and all I really wanted to do today was to share with you all my pictures of goodies. I'm beyond distressed.
