The Day started well enough
Nov. 20th, 2021 09:38 pmI woke up tired but I went to the gym anyhow. There I saw the Y was having Gear Up for Christmas with a tree where you can give kids a gift. There was only two left, a baby boy and a 4 year old girl. I chose the girl and I was already going to go shopping.
Chillicothe had a Gabe's (Gabriel Brothers started in my home town area and it sells overruns and slightly damaged/imperfect clothes). I wanted to go there since this is new. Yeah I should have gone to TJ Maxx first (or only) On the list was coat/shoes/clothes, barbies and a kitchen set dishes. This Gabe's was SO bad I felt overdressed because I brushed my hair... Worst ugliest clothes I have ever seen for adults. The kids were no better.
In fact it was worse. Someone explain to me why we're making 'sexy' clothing/sexy sayings on clothing for 4 year old girls? We don't do this shit to the boys. Oh right, misogyny. It's creepy AF (I struggled to find something for the little girl I got for a charity giveaway because I didn't want sexy). Seriously all they had was cut off belly baring shirts or ones with key holed backs. For FOUR YEAR OLDS. There was a lot of African 'I'm a Queen' related stuff but since I have no idea of race for the child I didn't get that either. I found one cute fox hoodie
As for the toys I could find mermaid Barbie (near the register so I had already selected, the only dishes/kitchen set was a set of dishes on a drying rack so you can have all the joy of washing dishes and I found a knock off Barbie 'Sophie the vet' who came with the exam table and two dogs. It was the same price as learning to wash dishes.
Now I get that little kids like to do what mommy and daddy do which is why they want kitchen crap but given the choice of teaching this kid she can be a dishwasher or she can be a vet, I went with vet.
I then went over to T J Maxx and yeah should have gone there first. Pretty clothes (didn't buy any) food stuffs (bought those) and then kid clothes that weren't sexy and fucking creepy. I found a jacket - shirt= pants combo for 17$. I'm like this is closer to what she needs vs the hoodie but for 8$ I wasn't taking it back so I said screw it and bought this too. The kid deserves a few things for the holidays I'm sure. (I've been doing stuff like this since med school where I did get a little disillusioned by it)
I went to Kroger's because this one has sushi and cheeses mine doesn't. It's SO crowded there wasn't a buggy. At All. Not even the carrols outside. So I grabbed a few things I could carry and then stopped at Panera and got all their Asiago bagels (and this time I will eat them. I just found old ones in the fridge. I'm going to turn them into lost bread soup)
I was going to go into Bath and Body works for my SiL for her holiday wish list but it was so busy there was a wait list and my knee was getting bitchy. I found a new soap place across the street and thought okay let me get something here since it was more in line with what I'm used to spending on fancy soap. I thought I was helping a local company. Turns out it's a chain from Texas (which I learn after the fact but it smells nice, Buffy City Soap) By now my knee is shifting around alarmingly so I hit dinner (at 3 pm.... well I figured I can snack tonight)
I got home fine but then things went downhill fast. Thankfully I was in the doorway when my knee completely gave out so I was able to catch myself before I hit ground. Even more thankful it waited to do this at home and NOT when I was out all day. I have no idea why it decided today was good.
Then someone who has been very kind to me on Twitter (who was a cop) had the opposite reaction to the Rittenhouse verdict but I ignored it. Now she's tweeting at me how horrible the people he killed were. Let me me tell you, if that's how you feel, keep it the fuck out of MY posts. I will ban you. I don't care what you say in your space but don't say it in my space. I feel bad because this person had been very nice but I'm not putting up with this shit.
I haven't had time to write. I'm going to struggle out some words now.
Snippet - “I’m Doctor Sterling, I led the team working on Danilo. You gave the staff his parents’ number and they okayed me giving you information on him.”
“I’m his guardian here, or I was when he started in school. He’s a legal adult now of course. How is he?”
“It’s still touch and go. We have him stabilized and moved into the ICU. I have never seen a dog leave claw marks like that. It was as if he tangled with a lion. He was…” Sterling trailed off, looking at Alessia and Grace.
“Eviscerated,” Alessia finished for him, her voice ringing hollow in her own ears. “I was there, Doctor. I tried to help hold his insides in.”
“You helped save his life,” Sterling said. “We’re transfusing him now.”
